Quayle: Obama's Challenge Is Taming Leftists
    Saturday, July 18, 2009 8:10 PM

STATELINE, Nev. -- Former Vice President Dan Quayle gives President Barack Obama high marks for surrounding himself with quality advisers on national security and the economy. But Quayle says it's not yet clear whether Obama's Democratic administration will govern more liberally than he campaigned.

"I think his biggest challenge is to tame the left wing of his party," Quayle said in an interview with The Associated Press at Lake Tahoe.

"I guess we'll find out how 'left' Obama really is, because he's going to have to make some very tough decisions where he is either going to have to go with the left wing of his party or stare them down and govern more like (ex-president Bill) Clinton governed, which is sort of center-left," said the Republican who served in the first Bush administration.

Quayle, who is playing golf at Lake Tahoe through the weekend at the American Century Celebrity Golf Championship, said Democrats had been out of power for eight years so "they just tried to throw everything out there and see what stuck."

Quayle said Obama ran a "center-left" campaign to get elected, similar to how Quayle and President George H.W. Bush ran "center-right."

"That's the normal situation. Same way with Reagan," Quayle said in an interview after he finished his opening round Friday in a group with former Notre Dame basketball coach Digger Phelps and television personality Maury Povich.

"Now I think they will have to make some tough decisions," Quayle said. "He knows the deficit is menacing. Whether he is willing to stare down the left wing of his party and say, 'Guys, we've got to get this budget in order before we take on too many things,' I don't know."

Obama has surrounded himself with "good people" to advise on the economy and national security, Quayle said. He singled out as "solid" Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner, budget director Peter Orszag and Lawrence Summers, head of the National Economic Council.

"He has a strong national security adviser, strong State Department and Defense Department," the former Indiana senator said.

But Quayle said he's curious about the Obama administration's division of oversight traditionally left to the secretary of state. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has tended to leave the heavy lifting in the world's most volatile hotspots to seasoned special envoys like Richard Holbrooke, who is tackling the Afghanistan-Pakistan problem, and Dennis Ross, special adviser on Iran and the Persian Gulf. Clinton has focused on Europe, Asia, Latin America and Mideast peace.

"I'm not exactly sure how that's all going to work out because sometimes you get into all sorts of turf fights and things of that sort," Quayle said.

As for the GOP, Quayle said the best thing the party may have going for it right now is the Democratic leadership of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., which he views as a negative.

"We're the out party now. We just need to focus on these congressional elections. I think Pelosi and Reid will help us in that endeavor."

Quayle is now chairman of the international division of Cerberus Capital Management, a multi-billion dollar private equity fund, and president of Quayle and Associates.

If it weren't for the Rep we would have no representation

The Rep and Dem are not one in the same!

The House and Senate Dems were the majority in the Bush administration and interestingly the Dems were on the same terrible political side as Bush. Many Rep did not agree with Bush and were a thorn in his side. However, the Dems under Obama are so much worse than they were under Bush, it doesn't even compare. And the Rep are being pushed aside so that Obama can enforce his one-party system.

    This is what Obama has done so far;
    Bank Bail Out's
Stimulus Bill ( 9,000 Ear Marks for Obama's friends)
    Auto Take-over
    Health Care Take over
Freedom of Speech Take over via hate Crimes bill
Cap And Trade Rip Off Bill ( Paying for the phony carbon foot print problem)
Still in the War in the Middle East
Making our friends around the world angry; not supporting them.
Kissing up to our enemies; making us seem weak
Pushing Amnesty while trying to pretend he is enforcing the laws
Training Amerocorp civilian troops so that they out number our military; while updating Fema Concentration camps simultaneously
Disrespecting Christianity; telling the world we are NOT a nation of Christians
Taking over the Census and putting it into the hands of Acorn a criminal organization indicted in 14 states for voter fraud
A political administration of tax evaders, criminals and enemies of America ( some are even La Raza members)
Working to take away our right to bear arms
Working toward legislature that will fine Americans for growing food in their home gardens.

Watch C-Span and you will see that if it weren’t for the Rep we would have no representation in Washington at all. Look at the way the majority of Dems have been voting for bills that take away our jobs, protections and sovereignty.

The Dem party is NOT the party of past generations, they don’t stand up to protect the American people anymore they defend those that seek to destroy us.

We must support and vote Rep at every opportunity so that we restore the balance of power.

Both parties have sold out to the elites. We need a THIRD party dedicated to the will of the people.

Before an election there must be an agenda set in place. Who makes the agenda?

    Bailout monies for INVESTMENT banks.

Bailout monies for CORPORATIONS deemed to BIG to fail.

Carbon cap scheme. (Wall Streets brain child?)

Health Care Takeover. (Lets face it, health care insurance and the costs are an anchor around every business' neck.)

Amnesty (need help with your tax base? More consumers to pay for inflated money)

Those five items are worth how much money? TRILLIONS!

Who would gain the most from those items on such an agenda?

Which party could be expected to present them and have the best chance of passing them and keeping their base happy?

Which party COULD NOT be expected to even talk about them without fear of a backlash from their base?

If you had BIG money and a media that would follow you to hell in order to pull off such an agenda that was worth trillions of dollars you would play your cards accordingly.

The Dems were hired to do a job. The Republicans were told to take a back seat, their work would come in short time.

The Dems will complete their work, the conservitives and the middle of the roaders will be pissed off that they will have to pay for all of this, they will then run back to the party that had them so pissed off just a short time ago, because that party, the Republican Party was busy doing the job that they were HIRED to do.

The voter votes, and the big money pays for the show.

Watch as the media and Americans run back toward the party, that just a short while ago was despised. A hero's welcome is in the works right now!

Your freedom, your liberties, your tax dollars, your input, SOLD, (actually bought a long time ago) to the highest bidder.

Now for the cruel part. YOU paid for it to happen!
