Retired sheriff's deputy stabbed by tagger
By Garrett Therolf, Times Staff Writer
1:35 PM PST, February 28, 2007
A retired Los Angeles County sheriff's deputy was repeatedly stabbed and was in critical condition after he confronted a graffiti tagger behind a Huntington Beach pet store today.
The 43-year-old victim fired five gunshots at his 16-year-old attacker but each one missed, said Huntington Beach police Lt. Terry Lindsey.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
FOR THE RECORD:
An earlier version of this story said the incident happened outside a PetSmart store. It was a Petco. Also, an earlier headline said the victim was a sheriff's deputy. He is retired.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Police responded a few minutes later shortly before 10 a.m. and arrested the alleged tagger, who has not been identified. He was still at the scene outside the Petco in the 8500 block of Adams Street. The teen was booked on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, Lindsey said.
The victim, who has not been identified, was transported to UCI Medical Center.

Attention Johnny Sutton: Please arrest this retired sheriff on charges of trying to defend public property and self defense. Please ensure that the vandal receive immunity, $2 million dollars for suffering mental trauma for being shot at and having his "civil rights" violated because he was only trying to express himself under the 1st Amendmant right?, And what the hell, throw in a nice beach front house to sweeten the deal.
Too bad the sheriff missed..."Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting the same results is the definition of insanity. " Albert Einstein.
