A roofer fatally shot a suspected robber who held him up this morning at a townhouse complex in southeast Houston, authorities said.

The man, identified by his employer as Juan Ibarra, was picking up a trailer at the complex in the 7800 block of Grove Ride about 9 a.m. when the robber approached and stuck a pistol in his back, police said.

"He ordered (Ibarra) to the cab of his truck," said Ramon Cervantes, a Houston police homicide investigator.

After taking the man's wallet and cell phone, the unidentified robber began walking away. He stopped after noticing that some cash had fallen to the pavement, police said.

Ibarra pulled out a pistol and then fired at least three times, police said. The robber was struck in the left chest area and fell to the ground.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Detectives talked to Ibarra at the scene, then took him to Houston Police Department headquarters for another round of questioning, police said.

Detectives said Ibarra had a license to carry a concealed weapon. No charges have been filed, and police said the shooting will be referred to a Harris County grand jury.

Good. Another bad guy that will not hurt anyone else. If more good people had concealed weapons, and were properly trained in their use, this would happen more often.

The result of that would be less crime and less suffering among good people.

Mexico has some of the strictest gun laws in the world and the power is therefore in the hands of the criminals and the government. Look at the results! They have a murder rate over three times the high rate in the US. Things are spinning out of control and about 8 people per day are being executed by the drug and human importing cartels.

Now, if the law abiding Mexican citizens had guns, the correct gun culture, and the proper training in use and safety, then I believe their nation would become safer, more prosperous, and more free.
