LAKE JACKSON, Texas – It’s been a good week for Ron Paul: a statistical tie at the Ames Straw Poll in Iowa last Saturday, a thousand New Hampshire voters at the Concord, New Hampshire office opening Wednesday night, and today, a resounding victory in the New Hampshire Young Republicans Straw Poll in New Castle.

With 45% of the vote, Paul soundly beat his closest rivals at this traditional lobster bake, with Mitt Romney earning 10% of the vote, followed by Thaddeus McCotter and Rick Perry, tied at 8%.

Ron Paul Doesn’t Fit Media Script

At the Daily Caller today, I explain why much of the media simply doesn’t know how to handle Ron Paul’s continuing success:

A reporter’s job is to report the news. This includes determining what news is worth covering. But should reporters be the sole arbiters of what should be news?

No matter how you cut it, Ron Paul almost winning the Ames Straw Poll is news (he came in second place, just 152 votes behind the winner, Michele Bachmann). For those who disagree, simply imagine how the media would have reacted if another GOP presidential candidate — say, Rick Santorum — had almost won the Ames Straw Poll. Actually, we don’t have to guess how they would have reacted because we already know, as the former senator’s relatively weak fourth-place showing continues to be portrayed as a “surgeâ€

Ron Paul Leads Bachmann, Perry in Two Recent Polls; Media Doesn’t Care

Proving ability to compete in ‘top tier’ in spite of media blackout

LAKE JACKSON, Texas– In a new survey from New Hampshire Journal/Magellan Strategies, 2012 Republican Presidential candidate Ron Paul takes third place, besting Michele Bachmann by 4 percent and trailing the second place candidate, Rick Perry, by the same percentage. The survey was conducted on August 15th and August 16th among New Hampshire Republicans and Republican-leaning independent likely voters.

This showing continues a trend for Paul, who also led candidate Perry by 4 percentage points in an August 8th Rasmussen survey of likely Iowa caucus goers and is coming off of an impressively close second-place finish in this past weekend’s Iowa Straw Poll. Paul has been surging in a number of national polls of late, despite lack of media coverage for his campaign.
