    Run, Kamala, Run

    Run, Kamala, Run

    July 19, 2017, 12:05 am

It would be fun to watch her get demolished by Trump in 2020.

Finding a pol as (or more) obnoxious than Barbara Boxer is no easy feat, but Golden State voters managed to perform it by selecting Kamala Harris as her replacement. Harris is a left-wing dingbat of singular rudeness. A deluded Boxer

thought of herself as kittenish and charming; Harris conceives of herself as more of a clawing feline — the relentless prosecutor who is going to bring the conservative dogs of Washington to heel. Except she is too vapid and dim to pull the role off.

My favorite moment from her absurd harangue of General Kelly earlier this year came when she demanded to know why he was subjecting immigration officers and local officials to a “Hobbesian choice.” She meant Hobson’s choice. Kelly was too nice to point out her sub-literate gibbering, but he did object to her lack of basic manners. She interrupted him repeatedly and finally he told her to knock it off (as have even John McCain and Richard Burr). That, of course, has occasioned feminist whining from Harris about a culture of mansplaining and double standards.

Barack Obama once got on the wrong side of her feminist fan club after he noted her striking good looks. He duly apologized for the infraction. The press, hinting at this secret to her success, calls her a “fresh face” in prospective presidential politics, by which it means a pretty one. It is hard to imagine reporters listening with bated breath to her pronouncements about this or that “Hobbesian choice” if she possessed the looks of, say, Barbara Mikulski.

Were it not for her fanatical support for abortion and all things culturally degenerate, NOW and NARAL would see Harris as an annoying and unworthy rival to Elizabeth Warren. A nubile Harris, after all, slept her way to the middle of California politics after she had an affair with a pol thirty-some years her senior, Willie Brown. An open crook with a Cosbyesque marriage to a long-suffering wife, Brown had no problem arranging lucrative state jobs for Harris after they trysted. The legendary San Francisco columnist Herb Caen called Kamala Harris Brown’s “steady.”

These days Harris furrows her brows over Trump’s “public corruption.” But Willie Brown, to paraphrase Oscar Levant, knew her before she was a virgin. She got at least two public jobs after serving as his mistress, according to the California press. It is safe to say that MSNBC-style fretting over “emoluments” didn’t figure into their pillow talk.

The growing chatter among Dems about her as a potential 2020 candidate is yet another illustration of the party’s lack of seriousness. At a time when it should be downplaying its image as an out-of-touch bi-coastal party, it deepens that image by pushing one more San Francisco radical forward. Who knows, maybe Harris can run with Pelosi.

According to press reports, Harris wowed supporters of Hillary’s at a recent fundraiser in the Hamptons. What a compelling look for a defeated party — a San Francisco kook feted by routed East Coast plutocrats impressed by her stern questioning of General Mattis over the plight of transgender soldiers. That should work well in the Rust Belt and the South.

Even Mark Penn, Hillary’s former strategist, is wincing at the party’s direction. He recently wrote that the party can’t recover if it stays on this far-left course. He proposes that the party adopt a more measured, less intolerant liberalism. But his plea is falling on deaf ears. The party is in no mood for any Sister Souljah moments. It remains the party of MoveOn.org, evident in the gushing over Harris for having raised money for it off her classless antics against Sessions and company.

In 1984, Reagan crushed the “San Francisco Democrats,” as his foreign policy advisor Jeane Kirkpatrick called them. Trump, in his re-election bid, would do the same, should Harris somehow rise to the top in the primaries. He would probably find that even more fun than beating “Pocahontas.”

    ‘Poontronage’: When Kamala Met Willie

    By Lloyd Billingsley| April 21st, 2018

She is brilliant and she is dedicated and she is tough,” said the president of the United States in 2013. “She also happens to be, by far, the best looking attorney general in the country.”

That would be former California Attorney General Kamala Harris, daughter of Indian and Jamaican immigrants, and now the state’s junior U.S. senator. As it happens, Barack Obama was not the first prominent Democrat to be dazzled by the UC Berkeley beauty.

As speaker of the California State Assembly from 1980 to 1995, Willie Brown was by far the Golden State’s most powerful shot-caller. In 1994 Brown, 60, met Kamala Harris, a full 30 years his junior, and she became “the Speaker’s new steady,” Brown’s “girlfriend” and “frequent companion.” The two-year relationship worked out well for Harris.

Willie Brown appointed Harris to the state Unemployment Insurance Appeals Board, which paid $97,088 a year. She served six months and Brown then appointed her to the California Medical Assistance Commission, which met only once a month but paid Harris $72,000. Call it “poontronage,” a politician’s appointment of his steady girlfriend, frequent companion, and main squeeze to a lucrative government position requiring little work.

Brown also raised money for Harris in her run for San Francisco district attorney in 2003. She defeated her former boss Terence Hallinan but promised never to seek the death penalty. She kept that promise the next year when gang member David Hill used an AK-47 to gun down San Francisco police officer Isaac Espinoza. Even Dianne Feinstein took Harris to task, as she alienated police across the state.

In her 2009 Smart on Crime: A Career Prosecutor’s Plan to Make us Safer, written with ghostwriter Joan O’C. Hamilton, Harris found the number of nonviolent offenders “truly staggering” and put them at the top of her “crime pyramid.” The next year, Harris ran for state attorney general and the Sacramento Bee endorsed her Republican rival Steve Cooley. Harris won by less than one percentage point, but as the Bee saw it, “she could be more aggressive on public corruption cases, though her handlers might worry that would cause friction with fellow Democratic politicians.”

The new span of the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge—10 years late, $5 billion over budget and riddled with safety issues—had whistleblowers calling for a criminal investigation. Duly apprised of the fathomless corruption, Harris failed to launch any criminal probe. With voter fraud and violent crime she simply looked the other way.

California’s attorney general stayed quiet in 2014 when racist Mexican national Luis Bracamontes gunned down police officers Danny Oliver and Michael Davis. In 2015, repeatedly deported felon Jose Inez Garcia Zarate, another Mexican national, shot and killed Kate Steinle on a San Francisco pier. Attorney General Harris defended the city’s sanctuary policy and failed even to decry “gun violence” in the case.

That same year Syed Farook and Tashfeen Malik killed 14 unarmed innocents and wounded 22 at an office party in San Bernardino. A year later Harris issued a statement on the “devastating and tragic terrorist attack,” but failed to name the Islamic terrorists and their motive for the mass murder.

As Democrats vied for the Senate seat vacated by Barbara Boxer, Willie Brown, now in his 80s, suggested that former Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa should stay out of the race in favor of Kamala Harris. He did, and the candidacy was essentially a walk-on for Harris, now a leading advocate for the DACA crowd.

For his first address to Congress in 2017, President Trump invited Danny Oliver’s wife Susan, an African-American, and the wife of slain deputy Michael Davis. Kamala Harris brought along DACA “Dreamer” Yuriana Aguilar, a Salvadoran national. Senator Harris was the first Democrat to announce that she would vote against any spending deal that did not include a fix for DACA illegals.

As Democrats plot to retake Congress, impeach Trump, and capture the White House, Willie Brown is talking up his former steady girlfriend. “I remember back when she was first elected D.A., here in San Francisco,” Brown wrote last June. “We had been very close.”

Say what you will about poontronage, it sure has plenty of staying power. On the other hand, Brown is hardly Harris’s only booster.

Last August, Brides magazine cited “7 Reasons Sen. Kamala Harris’s Husband Douglas Emhoff Would Make a Great First Man.” The high-profile attorney Emhoff is willing to compromise and cares about children but most important, he’s married to Kamala Harris. So “If he’s First Whatever, this means in 2020, we’d elect our first female president. This reason’s a no-brainer, right?” Right.

2 More Brown Associates Get Well-Paid Posts : Government: The Speaker appoints his frequent companion and a longtime friend to state boards as his hold on his own powerful position wanes.

    November 29, 1994
    |DAN MORAIN | TIMES STAFF WRITER

SACRAMENTO — Assembly Speaker Willie Brown, continuing his rush to hand out patronage jobs while he retains his powerful post, has given high-paying appointments to his former law associate and a former Alameda County prosecutor who is Brown's frequent companion.

Brown, exercising his power even as his speakership seems near an end, named attorney Kamala Harris to the California Medical Assistance Commission, a job that pays $72,000 a year.

Harris, a former deputy district attorney in Alameda County, was described by several people at the Capitol as Brown's girlfriend. In March, San Francisco Chronicle columnist Herb Caen called her "the Speaker's new steady." Harris declined to be interviewed Monday and Brown's spokeswoman did not return phone calls.

Harris accepted the appointment last week after serving six months as Brown's appointee to the Unemployment Insurance Appeals Board, which pays $97,088 a year. After Harris resigned from the unemployment board last week, Brown replaced her with Philip S. Ryan, a lawyer and longtime friend and business associate.

Last week, Brown also appointed Janet Gotch, wife of retiring Assemblyman Mike Gotch of San Diego, to the $95,000-a-year Integrated Waste Management Board, which oversees garbage disposal in California.

"It's politics as usual," said Robert M. Stern, co-director of the Center for Governmental Studies, a nonprofit group in Los Angeles. "Governors have done this in the past. This is a tradition the Speaker is carrying on. There are always outcries. People say it is wrong, and when they get in power they do the same thing."

Brown is making the appointments at a time when his 14-year hold on the speakership is tenuous at best. The Assembly will reconvene Monday with Republicans holding 41 seats to the Democrats' 39, making it likely the GOP will oust Democrat Brown as Speaker and replace him with a Republican.

"It's safe to say that these are not appointments we would necessarily make," said Phil Perry, spokesman for Assembly Republican Leader Jim Brulte, the front-runner to replace Brown as Speaker.

Assembly Republicans were muted in their criticism of Brown--perhaps because Assemblyman Bill Morrow (R-Oceanside) acknowledged Monday that he hired Faye Hill, wife of imprisoned former state Sen. Frank Hill, as a $60,000-a-year aide.

Hill, a longtime lawmaker from Whittier, resigned from the Senate earlier this year after being convicted of taking a $2,500 payoff from an undercover FBI agent.

Morrow hired Faye Hill in October and said she will work in his San Juan Capistrano office as well as in his offices in Oceanside and Sacramento.

"We haven't been keeping it a secret," Morrow said, adding that he has received "nothing but complimentary" comments about her work. Morrow called her "amply qualified," but also said he "can't divorce the fact that" she gained much of her experience in politics as a result of her marriage to Hill.

The Brown appointments of Harris and Ryan fill vacant slots once held by other Brown appointees, whose terms have not expired.

Harris' term on the medical board continues until Jan. 1, 1998.

Salary for the California Medical Assistance Commission is tied to legislators' pay. A government commission earlier this year voted to grant legislators a 37% pay increase, from the current $52,500 a year, to $72,000, effective when the new Legislature takes office Monday.

In the Alameda County district attorney's office, where Harris worked for three years, she was viewed as an able prosecutor on the way up. She took a leave earlier this year, and Brown named her to the Unemployment Insurance Appeals Board in May.

The California Medical Assistance Commission, established during Gov. Jerry Brown's tenure, meets monthly and is not seen as a full-time post. It is responsible for negotiating contracts on behalf of the state with hospitals to limit Medi-Cal costs.

Harris replaces former Assemblywoman Sunny Mojonnier, a San Diego Republican. Brown appointed Mojonnier in January, 1993.

Ryan replaces Harris on the unemployment appeals board. But his stay probably will be brief. His term expires on Jan. 1, so he may sit for only five weeks. For that service, he stands to be paid $9,300.

The seven-member Unemployment Insurance Appeals Board hears appeals by workers who are denied unemployment insurance benefits, and by employers who believe that benefits are awarded wrongly. The board meets once a week, and board members are expected to be on the job daily.

Brown and Ryan have been friends and business associates for years. Brown was "of counsel" to a Los Angeles law firm in which Ryan was a partner. Ryan left that firm in 1992, and Brown split from it this summer. Ryan also acted as Brown's spokesman when the Speaker's name surfaced in a criminal investigation three years ago. Ryan lives in Mendocino.

The governor and Senate Rules Committee appoint other members to the two boards. Both the governor and Senate Rules Committee have appointed former legislators or relatives of legislators to the boards.

I think the American people by a majority would quickly grow tired of her. Listening to her at the Kavanaugh hearing is a little sample.

There are so many groups that she and others want to carve out a special niche for in preferences. We would spend endless billions under Kamala Harris' socialist ideas of fairness. Not to mention her amnesty talk would allow illegal aliens to remain protected within the United States to steal the American dream from American citizens.

Just as we did under Obama. Think of how many of his "buddies" got rich off of the Stimulus money and hard earned tax payer money. Too many

But that would almost be a guaranteed win for Donald Trump!

Yeah, but you'd have to listen to and put up with all those women who want the First Woman President, and they don't care what woman, just any big stupid mouth will do for them, and I don't want that. When the woman who is ready to be President comes around, we'll know and we'll support her. She hasn't come on the scene yet. I think we're a ways off from that.

I've seen a few on the scene. But the American bias against a woman President is still dominant!

There's no bias against a woman President. There just hasn't been one on the scene that's right yet. At least not that I've seen. Remember Hillary, that moron, won the popular vote. No bias, just the wrong woman who thank God, got votes in the wrong states.
