    SPRING VALLEY — Authorities were responding to the scene of a brawl Friday night in Spring Valley that may have involved more than 100 people.

    The brawl started shortly before 11 p.m. near the Spring Valley Community Center on Jamacha Boulevard, the Sheriff’s Department said.

    At least one deputy was involved in a crash en route to the scene.

    No other information was available.

    About 200 teenagers brawled at a community center in Spring Valley and assaulted two security guards Saturday, prompting sheriff’s deputies to radio for help from other police agencies, sheriff’s officials said.

    The pair of armed guards at the Spring Valley Community Center, 8735 Jamacha Blvd., phoned for help about 2 a.m., sheriff’s Sgt. David Pocklington said.

    He said dispatchers could hear screams in the background as the guards reported a fight involving about 200 juveniles. Deputies arrived and found a brawl in the parking lot involving teens about ages 15 to 18.

    The teens dispersed slowly at the deputies’ orders, but kept fighting in various locations, Pocklington said. Deputies asked that other area police agencies rush to the scene to help break up the crowd.

    Officers responded from San Diego, La Mesa, National City, Chula Vista and the California Highway Patrol, sheriff’s Lt. Scott Ybarrondo said.

    Pocklington said the two guards who were assaulted were not injured. The fight may have been gang-related, Pocklington said.
