Schwarzenegger's Approval Falls to New Low
Schwarzenegger's Approval Falls to New Low
Thursday, July 30, 2009 1:25 AM
SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- A new poll by the Public Policy Institute of California finds Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger's popularity has fallen to a new low - 28 percent.
The decline comes after a bitter budget fight as the governor heads into his final months in office.
Californians are also giving record low marks to state legislators, who got just 17 percent approval.
But PPIC president Mark Baldassare says the politicians can't blame it all on the bad economy. He says Californians have become frustrated as lawmakers and the governor bickered over multibillion-dollar deficits for most of 2009.
Schwarzenegger spokesman Aaron McLear says many governors' poll numbers are falling along with the economy.
The survey has a sampling error rate of plus or minus 2 percentage points.
