Substantial numbers of children in state have immigrant parents

The number of Arizona children who come from immigrant households is soaring.

At least one in three Arizona children now has at least one immigrant parent, up from about one in four 10 years ago, said Nancy Welch,a researcher at the Morrison Institute for Public Policy at Arizona State University.

She co-authored a new report that concluded at least 471,000 children living in Arizona are from immigrant households - or more than the entire population of Mesa.
The report is based on 2006 census data.

These children, whom the report dubbed "Gen G," for Generation Global, pose both opportunities and challenges in the global economy.

"They really bring a lot of assets," Welch said. "For one, they already speak two languages."

They also pose significant challenges.

Gee, what a nice politically correct name for these children, Generation "G", how about calling them what they are, anchor babies, passport babies, or children used and abused by their parents in order to gain access to our hard earned tax dollars.

Big deal! There have always been immigrants in the US and they've had children too! I'm foreign born and have been here 40 years (35 years as a citizen) and I have kids who were born here. Now what does that have to do with ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION?!?

REALLY??? Then WHY are we wasting money on ESL classes and classes in ONE foreign language to teach them English?

The above is true for illegal aliens and those are some of the reasons we don't want them here! LEGAL immigrants have to prove they are self-supporting and not a burden on our social programs. LEGAL immigrants also happen to have an education and their kids excel. These are the ones we welcome!

So let's cut out the BS, shall we? Let's deport more illegal aliens to make room for LEGAL immigrants.
