There is a need to infrastructure improvement. But exactly what is reasonable to do is a very hard thing to guess. Around here businesses are screaming about a local Interstate highway that has a bad chokepoint---yet the solution offered by the regional planners runs to about $4 billion. So if our communities don't get certain infrastructure improvements businesses are inferring they may just have to pick up and move elsewhere---and China and India have been recent favorite destinations. We just lost a truck manufacturing business--and a 1000 jobs--- to Mexico, and there were other similar moves.

But whether these infrastructure improvements in the Reinvestment Act are well thought out is another story. Labor bosses have been seeking to direct the Administration's economic policy---and I know for sure they aren't economic experts. Still, this might be a good time to tackle needed projects in hopes of an economic recovery---i.e. new industries moving back in---once they are completed.

If they will move back in.

Unfortunately I don't see a lot of that kind of infrastructure investment in this bill. More governmental, make-work, social services projects.

Gotta keep the unwashed masses from destroying themselves, apparently!

Bur Mary's point is well taken. These governors are seeing a Trojan Horse in this federal money---which will bind them to further social program spending in the future.
