Talking about Energy: Drill Here, Drill Now

Talking about Energy: Drill Here, Drill Now

Talking points for a plan to lower gas prices today

    1. If we want gas prices to be lower, we have to increase supply. People are already responding to high prices by reducing their fuel consumption—and it hurts. We also have to increase our domestic supply. Therefore, we need to drill off the N.C. coast and do it now. It comes down to the law of supply and demand. As long as we continue to depend on unstable countries for the majority of our vehicle-fuel needs, we will continue to see high prices—particularly as developing-world economies come online and consume more of the available oil.

    2. Drilling now can lower prices at the pump now, despite the fact that the new supplies won’t come online for a while. Why? Oil would be less scarce in the future. The so-called “speculatorsâ€

Point 3: Sorry, but if this state would get rid of the illegals, the urgency of job creation would be not that important. What about the jobs that will be lost in those small businesses when tourists at the Outer Banks won't come anymore because of either the sight of drilling platforms instead of the horizon? There are many non-petrol alternatives available, but what this whole country needs is leadership in another direction, because we need a slow transition off of oil. There are plenty of innovations as far as car engines that don't run on oil, but Ford and GM have stuck those in the back of the filing cabinet, undoubtedly for their right hand washing the left hand of the oil industry.

We ned to drill offshore and in ANWAR now to utilize the oil domestically to reduce our dependence on unstable foreign nations. During this time of drilling, I'm also all for exploring and developing 'alternative' energies that will produce future results but there is no logical and economically responsible arguement aginst drilling now. Unless you are a Democrat but then "logic" and "economically responsible" cannot be used in the same sentence with Democrat.
