Tucson call center adding 300 jobs

Convergys Corp. is hiring more than 300 full- and part-time workers at its Tucson call center, boosting its local workforce by nearly half.

The new employees will provide technical support for a Convergys client in the entertainment industry, the company said.

About 650 workers are employed at the company’s call center at 3760 N. Commerce Drive. Based in Cincinnati, Convergys has 85 customer contact centers, three data centers and other facilities in the U.S., Canada, Latin America, Europe the Middle East and Asia.

Convergys said it offers employees comprehensive training, competitive wages, and benefits including medical and dental insurance, tuition reimbursement, 401(k), and paid and unpaid time off.

Three weeks of paid training for these positions will take place in August and September, and evening and weekend shifts are available, the company said.

Job candidates should have basic understanding of computers, strong computer and keyboarding skills, and the ability to work flexible hours. Employment with Convergys is contingent on the successful completion of a background check.
