Two arrested after children found in cockroach-infested homeby KTAR.com (October 25th, 2010 @ 6:16pm) Policy >> Comments:21 Two people have been arrested on charges of child abuse after El Mirage officers found six children in a cockroach-infested home.

Sabrina Garcia admitted to police that she had an argument with her husband Richard when officers noticed children through a window.

When allowed to check on the children, officers say they found them, ranging from ages four-12, living in horrible conditions.

Among the issues were what appeared to be rotting re-fried beans on the floor, carpet that was black in color from the amount of dirt, food, trash and cockroaches. There were so many roaches, in fact, that some were crawling on one child's leg.

Police say they saw dishes in the sink, covered in roaches, and noticed them on walls and in kitchen cabinets. They say there were cockroach nests in every corner of the residence, and in the refrigerator too. Police also found a glass marijuana bong in a closet.

When officers asked the two about the home's conditions, which also included food, toys and clothes littered around the house, both blamed the children, saying they don't clean up after themselves.

Police contacted CPS, who arrived on the scene and took custody of the children. They were placed with a family member.
