LUBBOCK, Texas — An El Paso man who operated a pharmacy in Mexico faces up to 100 years in prison after pleading guilty in a drug trafficking case.
Prosecutors on Tuesday announced the plea by 46-year-old Juan Arturo Yu Jr., who also listed Ciudad Juarez, Mexico, as a hometown.
Yu pleaded guilty July 3, in federal court in Lubbock, to one count of conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute controlled substances and four counts of money laundering.
Yu also faces a fine of up to $3 million. No sentencing date was immediately set.
Prosecutors say the case involved a drug trafficking conspiracy that illegally transported Ritalin, anabolic steroids, Valium and Rohypnol into the U.S. for distribution.
