U.S. judge rules lawsuit against health care law can proceed
03:11 PM
A federal judge in Florida has ruled that part of the lawsuit filed by 21 states against the new health care law can go to trial.
The heart of the suit, initiated by Florida's Republican attorney general, is whether the mandate requiring people to be insured, starting in 2014, is constitutional.
Northern District Senior Judge Roger Vinson, a Reagan nominee sitting in Pensacola, ruled that some parts of the six parts of the lawsuit need to be heard.
Last week, a federal judge in Michigan dismissed a separate suit, ruling that the individual mandate was constitutional.
