CHARLOTTE AMALIE, U.S. Virgin Islands — A federal border patrol officer has been arrested in the U.S. Virgin Islands and charged with beating up a romantic rival.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection agent Dave Christopher is accused of assaulting a man who pulled up to a St. Thomas nightclub with Christopher's wife in December. The victim drove away but Christopher and another man allegedly caught up with him and punched him repeatedly.

The victim, Joseph Morgan, was taken to a hospital with cuts on his face.
Christopher was arrested Monday at his office on St. Thomas and appeared in court Tuesday on charges of first-degree assault and abetting assault. A Superior Court judge set bail at $75,000.
