Once people have started seizing upon tricky and audacious legal reasoning to get where they want to go we are really in trouble. The financial rewards for suucceeding in the courtroom are so great that if one can master that process they can start building an empire. I think this is one of the dangers we are facing---intellectual aggression, exploiting the justice system--that snowballs.
