They blew it asking for state voter data. They should have traveled to the states and worked with the data inside the boundaries of the states, not asked for the data to be transferred to federal possession. Even I opposed that transfer of state voter data. We do not want our federal government exercising federal authority over states in areas of constitutional state authority and powers. Kobach who I like very much should have been more sensitive to that and worked around it. That might have prevented the lawsuits that shut it down.
