Apparently McCain has introduved a bill to regulatet vitamins. I am on several for blood pressure that are non-toxic and WORK, and this really tops the cake. PLEASE pass this around!

Yes, I became familiar with this bill last week. McCain is the biggest joke of a politician. No REAL conservative would EVER think about such legislation. This sound like something Bawney Fwank or Crypt Keeper Pelosi would do from the left. To all that say vitamins and supplements don't work; many prescription drugs are those same vitamins and supplements, just tweeked. There have been plenty of cases where a supplement was taken off the shelf by the FDA, then a pharm company instead uses the same formulas for themselves to sell at outrageous prices.

I sent a nice e-mail last week to McCain and my reps. I urge you to do the same.

Y'all need to fire up the search engines and dig up the connections between the vitamin bill, yesterdays fish oil lawsuit and McCain's campaign contributors.

Lawsuit Raises Fish Oil Supplement Concerns
Could You Be Getting PCBs With Your Omega-3 Fatty Acids?

Fish oil supplements are constantly touted for their seemingly miraculous health benefits because they contain omega 3 fatty acids. But a new lawsuit contends they may contain something else, too: PCBs, industrial chemicals that were banned back in the 1970s because they cause cancer and birth defects.

Beneath the surface of waterways like the Chesapeake Bay, small, filter fish ingest polychlorinated biphenyl compounds, or PCBs, that were deposited there decades ago by electrical plants and other polluters.

When environmental activists tested 10 different fish oil supplements, they say every one contained PCBs.

According to California law, people should not be exposed to more than 90 nanograms of this carcinogen a day. But the results of the activists' tests showed three of the 10 -- Nature Made Cod Liver Oil, and Now Foods' Salmon Oil and Double Strength Cod Liver Oil -- contained much more than that.

"The reason for the lawsuit is that people are being exposed to PCBs through these products and they're not being told," said David Roe, attorney for the plaintiff. Click here to visit the plaintiff's Web site, FishOilSafety.com.

Roe filed suit against eight fish oil producers and retailers, including CVS, GNC, Omega Protein and Rite Aid.

The industry is aware of possible PCB contamination, and some supplements come with labels saying PCBs have been removed.

The two supplements with the lowest overall PCB levels in the tests, Solgar Norwegian Cod Liver Oil and Twin Lab Norwegian Cod Liver Oil, had only one-70th the amount of the supplements with highest levels.

"You can protect yourselves by shopping for the ones with the lowest levels," Roe said.


Companies Respond to Lawsuit
CVS, Rite Aid and Omega Protein all declined to comment on the lawsuit. Solgar didn't respond in time.

GNC, Now Health Group, Twin Lab and Pharmavite -- maker of Nature Made -- all said their fish oil supplements pass strict tests and comply with all state and federal laws.

According to the Reuters/Yahoo article yesterday, Roe stated "there are currently no standards for pcb contamination in the United States". How does California come up with the 90 nonogram limit? Answer, the prop 65 list. One of the other plaintiffs is the Mateel Environmental Justice Foundation. The MEJF is only one of a group of law firms exploiting Cals prop 65 laws. To put it bluntly, they are sueing the pants off of anybody/corporation/business which has a connection to any chemical listed by prop 65. It doesn't take much to get on this list, wood dust will be taking a hit soon. The arguments for the prop 65 list sound good on the surface but its nothing more than an ACLU type operation to squeeze cash out of US businesses.
McCain and his vitamin bill are on the same path to restricting your access to products through gov regulation.
