Khan’s London: Average of 40 Knife Crimes Every Day

A Freedom of Information request by the London Evening Standard has revealed there are an average of 40 knife related incidents every day in the British capital.

The request revealed that in 2017 and 2018 there were a total of 29,232 knife related incidents reported, including 9,030 stabbings. The homicide rate involving knives was an average of one knife-related death every four days.
The figures come as knife crime in London is at the “highest and most worrying” level in 40 years, according to London Metropolitan Police chief Cressida Dick.

The area most responsible for the rise in crimes was the London borough of Southwark, with 1,594 offences occurring in the area. Southwark also reported the highest number of knife-related murders, with 17. Of 33 London boroughs, only Bexley was reported not to have had a single knife-related homicide over the previous two years.
According to figures by the Office for National Statistics, in the year ending June 2018, there were 14,987 reported offences involving knives, a rise of 15 percent. This figure represents 38 percent of all knife crimes across England and Wales.

Knife crimes in the UK have hit a nine-year high, according to the Ministry of Justice (MoJ), which reports that in the first three months of 2019, more than 5,759 offenses were processed through the criminal justice system vs. 5,285 in the same period last year.

About three quarters of those dealt with in the year to March were first-time offenders, the Ministry of Justice (MoJ) said. Almost two thirds of cases did not result in an immediate prison sentence but for those jailed the average term was 7.9 months, up from 7.1 months the previous year. -The Times

About 20% of those dealt with by the police were aged 10 to 17, while the number of juvenile offenders given warnings or convicted of possessing a knife increases by almost 50% between March 2015 and March 2019, from 3,800 to 5,600.




According to the new figures, police also dealt with 22,000 cases of people either possessing or making threats with a knife in the first three months of the year, roughly a 33% rise over the same period in 2018. Fatal stabbings down slightlyIf there's a silver lining to the UK stabfest, it's that the number of fatal stabbings as of May 14, 2019 (100) puts the country on track for a slightly lower rate than 2018 - which was the deadliest since records began in 1946, according to the BBC.

There has been one fatal stabbing every 1.45 days so far this year in England and Wales. If killings continued at that rate for the rest of the year, the total would be slightly lower than the 285 stabbing deaths recorded in 2017-18.

According to Reform think tank director Charlotte Pickles, the figures suggest that more jail time isn't the answer to reducing knife crime. "You cannot arrest your way out of this," she told The Times, adding that the UK must address the root causes of poverty, mental health, drugs and school exclusion first.

Javed Khan, chief executive of Barnardo’s, said: “Knife crime is a symptom of a much bigger problem. When young people feel there is little or no possibility of a positive future . . . they are vulnerable to exploitation and criminality.” The MoJ figures show that although the 22,000 total is an increase on five years ago, it is lower than the 28,000 recorded a decade ago. -The Times

Every knife sold in the UK should have a gps tracker fitted in the handle. It’s time we had a national database like we do with guns. If you’re carrying it around you had better have a bloody good explanation, obvious exemptions for fishing etc.

STAB CITY: 8-Months-Pregnant Woman Stabbed to Death in London – Baby Delivered at Scene in Critical Condition

A pregnant woman was fatally stabbed in South London on Saturday and her baby, who is in critical condition, was delivered at the scene.Police were called to a home in Thornton Heath very early Saturday morning to reports of a woman who was in cardiac arrest.

An ambulance showed up with police to the property and found Kelly-Mary Fauvrelle, a 26-year-old pregnant woman, had been stabbed multiple times.
The woman died of her injuries on the scene and the baby was delivered then taken to a hospital.Police initially arrested a 37-year-old man on suspicion of murder, however they later released him. A second man, 29, was then taken into custody.No further information on the suspects were released.
The Muslim Mayor of London Sadiq Khan, who has seen his city turn into a blood bath of stabbings thanks to an influx of 3rd world migrants, offered his condolences: “Violence against women has no place in our city, and horrific murders in the home like this show the scale of the problem we face.“My heart goes out to this innocent child, and to the mother they have so tragically lost.”
