William: Video Neil Diamond - Coming to America

When I was a little boy, I was the biggest Neil Diamond fan you could imagine. I loved to sing and I loved to sing Neil Diamond songs, especially this one.

When I was about 11 years old, I would listen to one of my moms Neil Diamond 8 tracks as I went to sleep each night. My theory was that if I listened to Neil Diamond each night, that when I entered puberty and my voice started to change that I would sound like Neil

How sad it is that in the year 2007, this song which I once found so inspirational has now become heavily ironic to me considering the crisis we face from illegal immigration.

I am giving serious consideration to rewriting this song to make the lyrics more fitting for 2007!

William's All Time Favorite Neil Diamond Tune is a remake of 'Both Sides Now' originally done by Joni Mitchell.

; Rows and floes of angel hair
And ice cream castles in the air
    And feather canyons evrywhere
Ive looked at clouds that way

But now they only block the sun
They rain and snow on evryone
So many things I would have done
But clouds got in my way
Ive looked at clouds from both sides now
From up and down, and still somehow
    Its cloud illusions I recall
I really dont know clouds at all

Moons and junes and ferris wheels
The dizzy dancing way you feel
As evry fairy tale comes real
Ive looked at love that way

But now its just another show
You leave em laughing when you go
And if you care, dont let them know
    Dont give yourself away

Ive looked at love from both sides now
From give and take, and still somehow
    Its loves illusions I recall
I really dont know love at all

Tears and fears and feeling proud
To say I love you right out loud
Dreams and schemes and circus crowds
Ive looked at life that way

But now old friends are acting strange
They shake their heads, they say Ive changed
Well somethings lost, but somethings gained
    In living evry day

Ive looked at life from both sides now
From win and lose and still somehow
    Its lifes illusions I recall
I really dont know life at all
Ive looked at life from both sides now
From up and down, and still somehow
    Its lifes illusions I recall
I really dont know life at all

    W.,

I really like this song too and Neil is a great artist. I heard him once tell the story on the radio of how he decided on the name Neil Diamond. It was funny, too bad I don't remember the details but he described all the banter and the decision process with his agent because the record company rejected his real name right off.

I remember when Neil Diamond came to town. I have never seen so many limos in my life they were surrounding the concert hall.

He just came out yesterday and said the song, "Sweet Caroline" was inspired by Caroline Kennedy. He played for her 50 birthday and spilled the beans.

Just a fun factoid of the day.
