Suit alleges Wis. officials illegally sold records
MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- A lawsuit alleges state Department of Transportation officials illegally sold personal information of tens of thousands of licensed drivers.
As reported on the Wisconsin State Journal's Web page, the lawsuit was filed by three Madison area women in U.S. District Court Thursday against DOT Secretary Frank Busalacchi, Division of Motor Vehicles administrator Lynn Judd and 10 unknown persons.
They're accused of violating the U.S. Driver's Privacy Protection Act by selling the information to companies that make it available via the Internet.
DOT spokeswoman Peg Schmitt said DOT officials probably hadn't yet received the lawsuit and couldn't comment. But she said the law allows certain groups to request information from DOT for limited purposes, such as insurance claims and law enforcement.

Yep, so a Real ID will not prevent this from happening. The Drivers Privacy Protection Act allows the information to be shared with Mexico and Canada as well. I have been telling people about it for years.
Just wait until everyone gets into the e verify system. It will be a cash cow for the states.I stay current on Americans for Legal Immigration PAC's fight to Secure Our Border and Send Illegals Home via E-mail Alerts (CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP)
