World's largest offshore wind farm opens off British coast

02:38 PM

The world's largest offshore wind farm has opened off the southeast coast of England as part of the British government's push to boost renewable energy.

Swedish energy company Vattenfall, which built the wind farm, says the 100 turbines could produce, at their peak, enough electricity to power the equivalent of more than 200,000 homes.

The huge site is seven miles off the coast in the North Sea.
