Friends,

Today is an important day. Our supporters have fought a long hard battle in South Carolina to get a state immigration enforcement bill passed that will have a true impact like the states of GA, OK, and AZ.

The South Carolina Chamber of Commerce has fought us tooth and nail and has used their influence to get the SC House to back off of requiring all employers to use the E-Verify system and want to limit the legislation to only include companies that do state contracts.

Yesterday, the SC state Senate made an important move. They placed the blame firmly on the SC House! Please read the details....

This pressure can work if thousands of us light up the phone lines and inboxes of the SC House today and Thursday!

Let's saddle up ALIPACers and let's ride together on SC! Adding SC to our victory list would greatly enhance our momentum in the states and help us to influence other states in 2008.

Our operations have helped make a difference as an equation for success in Oregon, Maine, Utah, and Mississippi this year.

Please follow me in by taking the steps I will take today.

Calls followed by e-mails, faxes, or letters.

1. Contact any friends or family members in SC and ask them to call their SC state house representatives to complain about the House's resistance to requiring all employers to only hire legal workers. We need ALIPACers on the ground in SC and ALIPACers with contacts in SC to generate as many calls by South Carolinians as possible.

2. Even if you do not live in SC, follow this link to the directory of House Reps. If you have the time, call and e-mail all of them! If your time is limited, please select a minimum of 10 Representatives at random to contact to add your voice to our effort. If you are in California, get on the phones to SC! If you are in Florida or Texas, get on the phones to SC. Let's focus our power.

3. Use my message as an example to create your own subject line and message. Make sure your call and e-mail is personalized to each Representative you contact. Make sure you call first and the follow up with a written copy for maximum effectiveness.

"Hello, may I speak with Representative ______ please? (yes/no proceed) I am calling because news reports say that the South Carolina house is trying to stop an immigration enforcement bill from requiring all SC businesses to verify they only hire Americans and legal immigrants.

I want you to tell the South Carolina Chamber of Commerce to stop defending businesses that break the law and hire illegal aliens. We need legislation that will protect American workers and South Carolinians from lost jobs, wages, and taxes taken by illegal aliens.

Please pass a bill as soon as possible that will require ALL businesses in SC to use the E-Verify system and only hire legal workers. I will be watching the SC House closely on this matter.

The SC House should follow the lead of Georgia, Utah, Oklahoma, Rhode Island, Arizona, Oregon, and Maine by passing effective immigration enforcement legislation on the state level.

Sincerely,
_______"
