Model Says She Made Up Story About Trump-Russian Collusion to Avoid Jail Time: Belarusian model Anastasia Vashukevich (shown above left) has admitted that her earlier claims of having “proof” of Russian collusion by Donald Trump are false.
Vashukevich also goes by the alias Nastya Rybka.
She told CNN in a report published Tuesday that she made up claims she had secret recordings between President Donald Trump and Russian business magnate Oleg Deripaska — founder of the industrial group Basic Element — in order to escape prison time.
The so-called secret recordings were said to be proof of Russian collusion within the Trump presidential campaign.
Vashukevich was arrested in Thailand for solicitation.
She made up the story in order to get international attention from journalists. The model was seeking asylum in the United States — but was eventually deported back to Russia.
“I think it saved my life. How can I regret it?” she said to CNN about the tale she invented out of whole cloth. “If journalists had not come at that time and that story had not come to the newspapers, maybe I would [be dead by] now.”
Vashukevich has been linked to Russian President Vladimir Putin and business magnate Oleg Deripaska.
She told CNN the Russian government warned her not to talk about Deripaska.
She previously made headlines for taking part in a nude protest outside the U.S. Embassy in Moscow in support of disgraced movie producer Harvey Weinstein.
She and another model were reportedly yelling, “We came here to support the producer who offered women sex. Sex is right, sex is cool!”
Dozens of women have accused Weinstein of sexual misconduct, including rape.
