Ron Paul gets endorsement from five members of Romney’s family
http://l1.yimg.com/bt/api/res/1.2/5O...y27_174921.png The Daily Caller – Mon, Mar 5, 2012
More From The Daily Caller
Texas Rep. Ron Paul on Monday announced that five distant relatives of rival Mitt Romney’s family are endorsing his Republican presidential campaign.
A news release from the Paul campaign boasts of having the support of Ty Romney, Travis Romney, Chad Romney, Jared Romney and Troy Romney. Three of the Romneys — who live in Idaho — will speak on Paul’s behalf during the state’s caucuses on Tuesday.
“I support Ron Paul because he defends the Constitution, loves America and understands what it means to be an American, including the right to live your life any way you want as long as you respect others,” said chiropractor Travis Romney, a second cousin once removed from Mitt Romney.
This isn’t the first time a family member of one of Paul’s rivals announced support for the libertarian-leaning candidate from Texas. Former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum’s nephew, John Garver, penned a column for The Daily Caller endorsing Paul.

I just got home from the CalState Fullerton rally. It inspired me to see how many new people are being introduced to Ron Paul for the first time on a personal level, and becoming excited by his message of freedom and individual responsibility. I shot this video with my iPhone and edited it using the iMovie app. I uploaded it on the drive home. I should have been doing this from a long time ago! There were many other choice moments that I missed, but hopefully this gives you a sense of the evening.

Romney Heckled at New York Event

New York
Today, on the anniversary of Osama bin Laden’s death, presumptive nominee Mitt Romney traveled to New York to commemorate the event. Shoring up his 9/11 credentials by bringing Rudy Giuliani along, Romney brought pizzas to Engine 24/ladder 5, a firehouse that lost 11 members on that fateful day. However, the photo op didn't go perfectly. While Romney talked to the gathered press, thanking President Obama for taking bin Laden out but accusing him of politicizing the event, a protester began yelling, getting some choice words in while the live TV cameras were rolling.

N-cel: Court Decision Coming Soon Question Being Decided: Whether To Ban Electronic Voting
Submitted by Bob-45 on Thu, 05/03/2012 - 03:31
Politics & Law
The United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit is expected to hear oral arguments during the week of June 18th and issue its decision soon thereafter in Schulz and Liggett v. New York State Board of Elections, a constitutional challenge to New York’s practice of recording and counting votes in secret, i.e., out of public view.
The case is on the Court’s expedited appeals calendar due to the upcoming presidential election in November.
The case could result in a decision to ban the further use of the two types of electronic voting systems (Dominion and ES&S) now used to record and count the votes cast across New York State using secret processes.
The Court will first decide whether it has jurisdiction to hear the case, that is, whether the harm suffered by the Plaintiffs (Bob Schulz and John Liggett who are U.S. citizens and registered voters, residing in New York State) is “sufficiently concrete, traceable to the actions of the State defendants and can be remedied by the Court.”

The Republican National Committee Supports Obama for President!

Ron Paul 2012
The RNC supports Obama for the 2012 presidency! Why is this? Because, poll after poll after poll has CLEARLY SHOWN RON PAUL TO HAVE THE CAPABILITY TO WIN AGAINST OBAMA.
However, poll after poll has also shown that Romney will not win over Obama, and that Obama will be the victor.
So, if this is the case, and Romney doesn't have a snowball's chance in hell of winning the 2012 election, then WHY is the RNC supporting Romney.
They aren't, that's why! They really support Obama!!! If did NOT want Obama to win, they would have gotten behind Ron Paul ages ago! And, they certainly haven't, have they!!!!!
Perhaps we should all write letters to the RNC with reference to their current support of Obama.
Maybe someone can interview them, with the title of the interview being something like this:
The RNC loves Obama and they are here to tell us about why they idolize this man!!!!

And it has played out exactly as he predicted.

Ron Paul is the only candidate who predicted and warned against the economic crisis, who understood and explained the reasons for it, and who offers a viable solution.
Ron Paul is the only candidate who really means it when he says he wants to bring our troops home and scale down our unsustainable and unreasonable empire.
Ron Paul is the only candidate who is serious about slashing spending and eliminating taxes.
Even though others are now trying to sound like him, there is only one Ron Paul. And there is only one candidate who can beat Obama: Ron Paul.
Congressman Ron Paul is the leading advocate for freedom in our nation's capital. As a member of the U.S. House of Representatives, Dr. Paul tirelessly works for limited, constitutional government, low taxes, free markets, and a return to sound monetary policies. He is known among his congressional colleagues and his constituents for his consistent voting record. Dr. Paul never votes for legislation unless the proposed measure is expressly authorized by the Constitution. In the words of former Treasury Secretary William Simon, Dr. Paul is the "one exception to the Gang of 535″ on Capitol Hill.
Ron Paul was born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He graduated from Gettysburg College and the Duke University School of Medicine, before proudly serving as a flight surgeon in the U.S. Air Force during the 1960s. He and his wife Carol moved to Texas in 1968, where he began his medical practice in Brazoria County. As a specialist in obstetrics/gynecology, Dr. Paul has delivered more than 4,000 babies. He and Carol, who reside in Lake Jackson, Texas, are the proud parents of five children and have 17 grandchildren.
While serving in Congress during the late 1970s and early 1980s, Dr. Paul's limited-government ideals were not popular in Washington. In 1976, he was one of only four Republican congressmen to endorse Ronald Reagan for president.
During that time, Congressman Paul served on the House Banking committee, where he was a strong advocate for sound monetary policy and an outspoken critic of the Federal Reserve's inflationary measures. He was an unwavering advocate of pro-life and pro-family values. Dr. Paul consistently voted to lower or abolish federal taxes, spending and regulation, and used his House seat to actively promote the return of government to its proper constitutional levels. In 1984, he voluntarily relinquished his House seat and returned to his medical practice.
Dr. Paul returned to Congress in 1997 to represent the 14th congressional district of Texas. He presently serves on the House Committee on Financial Services and the House Committee on Foreign Affairs. He continues to advocate a dramatic reduction in the size of the federal government and a return to constitutional principles.
Congressman Paul's consistent voting record prompted one of his congressional colleagues to say, "Ron Paul personifies the Founding Fathers' ideal of the citizen-statesman. He makes it clear that his principles will never be compromised, and they never are." Another colleague observed, "There are few people in public life who, through thick and thin, rain or shine, stick to their principles. Ron Paul is one of those few."

Officials 'FRANTIC' Over Ron Paul Supporters Seizing Control of GOP
Steve Watson
Infowars.com
May 3, 2012
If Paul can score a plurality of delegates from five states, his supporters could nominate him from the convention floor. At this stage a brokered convention remains highly unlikely. However, with a strong showing among delegates the Congressman’s supporters hope to secure a speaking spot for Paul and some control over the party platform.
Josh Putnam, a professor of political science at Davidson College and expert on delegate procedures, told TPM that Paul’s supporters should “easily” reach the required threshold of delegate pluralities, and warned that the effects could be far reaching.
“Broadly speaking, I don’t think anyone has a firm handle on how deep this goes,” Putnam told TPM. “This is a headache for Romney and they’ll have to deal with it at some point.”
Republican officials are warning that Paul’s supporters are seizing control of the party at the State level.
“It’s down to a matter of trust,” Craig Robinson, a former political director of the Iowa Republican Party told The Hill.
“If you’re the Romney campaign, can you trust the Iowa GOP to work with you? If this delegation is going to go down to the Florida convention and cast their votes for Ron Paul, I think the answer is no. I wouldn’t blame the Romney campaign for being skeptical of working with the Iowa GOP.”
Similar situations are fomenting in several other states as Paul supporters are using the establishment system to their own advantage.
“Taken together, these victories and those yet to happen forecast a prominent role for Ron Paul at the RNC,” Paul campaign manager John Tate said after the Colorado and Minnesota gains. “They also signal that the convention will feature a spirited discussion over whether conservatism will triumph over the status quo.”
The Paul campaign will remain in California for the next few days and will hold several more events. The Congressman will speak at another large on-campus town hall meeting tomorrow at the University of California at Davis. On Friday, he will hold another at the University of California at San Diego.

Ron Paul's Nevada Campaign Rebuffs Then Dismisses WARNING From Republican National Committee
BY LAURA MYERS
LAS VEGAS REVIEW-JOURNAL
Posted: May 3, 2012 | 9:07 a.m.
Updated: May 3, 2012 | 9:23 a.m.
The Nevada chairman of Ron Paul's presidential campaign on Thursday dismissed a Republican National Committee threat not to seat the Silver State's delegation at the national convention if it's packed with too many Paul supporters.
The warning came in a letter sent on Wednesday to the Nevada Republican Party Chairman Michael McDonald, who had asked for a legal opinion about delegate selection ahead of the state GOP convention Saturday.
The RNC lawyer suggested it would be "highly likely" the Nevada delegation's 28 seats at the Tampa convention would be jeopardized if Paul delegates took up spots that should be allocated instead to Mitt Romney, the presumptive GOP nominee who won the Feb. 4 caucuses in Nevada with half the vote.

C'mon people - we win if they don't send the entire Nevada delegation, remember they are bound to Romney, oh wait aren't the Romney trolls here claiming we can't abstain, evidently we can otherwise there would be no threat, but either way they are Mitts votes.
But look back to N Dakota, wouldn't they have to throw out that delegation too? After all Mitt has all the delegates even though he came in 3rd, and he got those delegates via corrupt party tactics, not actual Citizens showing up to be delegates.
If they throw that delegation out, we win again, those are Mitt delegates.

PHASE TWO OF THE RON PAUL REVOLUTION HAS BEGUN: Rand Paul Is Already Getting Ready To Run In 2016
Grace Wyler | 16 minutes ago
As Republican iconoclast Ron Paul secretly racks up delegates for his insurgent 2012 presidential bid, his son, Kentucky Senator Rand Paul, is quietly opening up a new phase in the Ron Paul Revolution: He's getting ready to run for President.
The younger Paul's prospective campaign is still four, or eight, years away, but the junior Senator appears to be taking all the right steps to position himself for when the time comes. Later this month Rand will return to Iowa — without his father — to deliver the keynote speech at the Iowa Faith & Freedom Coalitions spring rally — the most obvious indication yet that Sen. Paul has his own presidential ambitions.
"He loves Iowa," Sen. Paul's communications director Moira Bagley told Business Insider. "He's been out there so much, with his dad's campaign, so he's really comfortable and really happy with the people out in Iowa, and especially the evangelical groups."
In fact, Sen. Paul's overture to Iowa's social conservatives is evidence of a budding romance between the Kentucky Republican and evangelical leaders, most of whom have never been particularly taken with the elder Paul.
Business Insider has learned that Sen. Paul has even been approached about a possible trip to Israel with Christian activist David Lane, a conservative kingmaker whose "Pastor Policy Briefings" helped launch Mike Huckabee's political star in 2008.
"Rand Paul is going to inherit his dad's political assets — he's going to be very formidable," Lane told Business Insider. "Structurally, there is something that is happening inside the state Republican parties that will have to be delt with politically."

What These Large Ron Paul Crowds Have Taught Us
Submitted by Forever Liberty on Thu, 05/03/2012 - 12:53
It's that we shouldn't be afraid to speak. Thousands upon thousands of people show up to hear Ron Paul speak. 10,000 people showed up at UCLA.
This is critical mass.
There are times when I'm afraid to speak because I could be considered a terrorist, but I am not. There are times when I read scare stories on websites like Alex Jones and want to hibernate, but I will not. Do not live in fear. We are not the only people who can see the popularity of Ron Paul and liberty ideas as the MSM would lead you to believe with their mind tricks. Its the people who have something to gain that want you to believe that no one but you can see what's going on. Yes, there's people who are kept in the dark by the likes of Fox and CNN, but they too will soon realize what is going on.
Its inevitable.
Ron Paul is not some wacky professor fringe guy with wacky beliefs like they want us to believe. We are not fringe people with wacky beliefs. We're the opposite. We are people who think with logic. We're the ones who value life and happiness. We believe there is something wrong with committing genocide for power and oil. We believe there is something wrong when people are tossed in cages over victimless "crimes."
We are normal. They are crazy.
We are at critical mass. The mass gatherings prove it. It is an impossibility that they can throw us in jail for simply speaking or showing our faces in public simply because we express the truth. The establishment knows this. They know the cat is out of the bag, so their way to deal with it is to pretend that they do not see the cat. Thats their last salvation. The emperor has no clothes. You have nothing to be afraid of.
Stop hiding.

Charlie Webster's latest outrage: Tells ME delegates we can not elect the chair!

Ron Paul 2012
Just sent to all Maine delegates by sitting RINO state party chair:
===================================
To: State Convention Delegates and Alternates
From: Charlie Webster
Several weeks ago I attended a meeting at the Party Headquarters with a representative from the Ron Paul campaign.
At that meeting I was informed that the Ron Paul campaign intends to "take over" the Republican State Convention and Republican State Committee.
It appears that such an effort will be attempted.
It is my opinion that, in my role as Party Chairman, my obligation is to welcome every Republican activist to our Convention, and to guarantee that all voices are heard.
All of us should welcome the supporters of Ron Paul, Newt Gingrich, Rick Santorum, and Mitt Romney.
These activists are critical to the election of our candidates in the 2012 elections.
As attendees of our convention, I write to inform you of this situation and to remind you of the importance of attending the Convention beginning with the election of the Convention Secretary when we convene at 9 a.m. ( We recommend that you arrive at 8:15, at the latest to collect your Delegate/Alternate credentials )
The very first business on Saturday will be the election of the Convention Secretary and Convention Chairman.
This would be the first opportunity for anyone to "take over" the Convention by electing " their " Convention Chairman.
The County caucuses will be held at 4 o'clock and this matter of business would be another opportunity to "take over" the State Committee.
I regret the necessity of writing this message, but unfortunately there are those among us who would choose to divide us rather than unite us. Individuals who seem to believe that the overall good of the Party may not be as important as their candidate and their own personal political opinions.
Thanks for reading this message, see you at the Convention. 8:15 a.m. on Saturday

So, does Stossel know of some big announcement or event that is going to boost the Paul campaign? Any ideas???

Red Alert! Michigan County Conventions are TONIGHT at 7:00 PM
Submitted by Andrew Jetton on Wed, 05/02/2012 - 10:45
Delegates
For the location of your convention, please go to the Ron Paul Michigan HQ:
Ron Paul — Michigan 2012 — Official Ron Paul 2012 Presidential Campaign Committee
According to Green Papers, these county conventions will choose delegates for the May 18-19 State Convention in Detroit. The results of the 02/28 Michigan Primary entitled Sen. Santorum to 14 of Michigan's 30 National delegates; with Santorum's delegates likely to be free in Tampa, this is a golden opportunity to pick up 14 delegates for Dr. Paul!
I suspect that turnout at tonight's conventions will be very light, for the following reasons:
1. County Convention delegates were chosen way back in 2010; many of them have probably forgotten about, or are no longer interested in, attending, especially since Romney is commonly perceived to have already won the nomination.
2. The conventions are not being well publicized; I found that, as of Tuesday, many of the Michigan county GOP Websites made no mention of their upcoming convention.
3. The conventions are being held on a Thursday, which is an unusual day for an electoral event.
What this means is this: A strong statewide turnout by Liberty county delegates can sweep these conventions and set the stage for us to dominate the State Convention. We beat Romney in Massachusetts last Saturday, now we can beat him in his other "home state"!
If you are a Michigan Liberty supporter who is not a county delegate, go to your County Convention anyway. You will be able to help out and to provide a supportive environment for the Paul delegates. If are a Liberty supporter somewhere else, but know people in Michigan, call them! We need to alert the Paul community in Michigan that this important event is tonight.
Strategy: If you already have an agreed-upon plan of action, follow it. Otherwise, dress nicely, show up early, find the Paul crowd, get organized, and develop a slate that you all will vote on. (If there is no Paul crowd, try to get yourself elected as a State Convention delegate; prepare a short speech in furtherance of that goal.) If you are not a County delegate, help out in any way that you can.
Remember: 30 delegates are at stake in Michigan, including 14 potential "first ballot" Paul delegates. DailyPaul community, please keep this thread bumped until tonight at 7:00 PM! Thank you!
Update: Some of the posters on this thread have indicated that even those who are not County delegates can be selected as State delegates just by showing up at the county convention. Yet another good reason to go, so go get those State delegate spots, Michigan Liberty patriots!

Ron Paul: "Central Bankers Are Intellectually Bankrupt"
http://www.zerohedge.com/sites/defau.../picture-5.jpg
Submitted by Tyler Durden on 05/03/2012 13:38 -0400
Likely glowing from his glorious victory (h/t Trish Regan) over Krugman in Bloomberg's recent Paul vs Paul debate, Rep. Ron Paul destroys the central-planning arrogance of Bernanke and his ilk in an Op-Ed released by the FT today.
Control of the world’s economy has been placed in the hands of a banking cartel, which holds great danger for all of us. True prosperity requires sound money, increased productivity, and increased savings and investment. The world is awash in US dollars, and a currency crisis involving the world’s reserve currency would be an unprecedented catastrophe. No amount of monetary expansion can solve our current financial problems, but it can make those problems much worse.
Our Central Bankers Are Intellectually Bankrupt
by Ron Paul
The financial crisis has fully exposed the intellectual bankruptcy of the world’s central bankers.
Why? Central bankers neglect the fact that interest rates are prices. Manipulating those prices through credit expansion or contraction has real and deleterious effects on the economy. Yet while socialism and centralised economic planning have largely been rejected by free-market economists, the myth persists that central banks are a necessary component of market economies.
These economists understand that having wages or commodity prices established by government fiat would cause shortages, misallocations of capital and hardship. Yet they accept at face value the notion that central banks must determine not only the supply of one particular commodity – money – but also the cost of that commodity via the setting of interest rates.
Printing unlimited amounts of money does not lead to unlimited prosperity. This is readily apparent from observing the Fed’s monetary policy over the past two decades. It has pumped trillions of dollars into the economy, providing money to banks with the hope that this new money will spur lending and, in turn, consumption. These interventions are intended to raise stock prices, lower borrowing costs for companies and individuals, and maintain high housing prices.
But like their predecessors in the 1930s, today’s Fed governors behave as if the height of the credit bubble is the status quo to which we need to return. This confuses money with wealth, and reflects the idea that prosperity stems from high asset prices and large amounts of money and credit.
The push for easy money is not new. Central banking was supposed to have ended the types of periodic financial crises the US experienced throughout the 19th century. Yet US financial panics have only got worse since the centralisation of monetary policy via the creation of the Fed in 1913. The Depression in the 1930s; the haemorrhaging of gold reserves during the 1960s; the stagflation of the 1970s; the dotcom bubble of the early 2000s; and the current recession all have their root in the Fed’s loose monetary policy.
Each of these crises began with an inflationary monetary policy that led to bubbles, and the solution to the busts that inevitably followed has always been to reflate the bubble.
This only sows the seeds for the next crisis. Lowering interest rates in an attempt to forestall a recession in the aftermath of the dotcom bubble required massive credit creation that led to the housing bubble, the collapse of which we still have not recovered from today. Failing to learn the lesson of the bursting of both the dotcom bubble and the housing bubble, the Fed has pumped trillions of dollars into the economy and has promised to leave interest rates at zero through to at least 2014. This will only ensure that the next crisis will be even more destructive than the current one.
Not content with its failed attempts to prop up the US economy, the Fed has set its sights on bailing out Europe, too. Through currency swaps, it has committed to offering potentially hundreds of billions of US dollars to the European Central Bank and we cannot rule out the possibility of direct intervention.
The Fed’s response to the crisis suggests that it believes the current crisis is a problem of liquidity. In fact it is a problem of poorly allocated investments caused by improper pricing of money and credit, pricing which is distorted by the Fed’s inflationary actions.
The Fed has made banks and corporations dependent on cheap money. Instead of looking for opportunities to invest in real products that will serve the needs of consumers, Wall Street awaits the minutes of each Federal Open Market Committee meeting with bated breath, hoping that QE3 and QE4 are just around the corner. It is no wonder that long-term investment and business planning are stagnant.
We live in a world that seems to have abandoned the concept of savings and investment as the source of real wealth and economic growth. Financial markets clamour for more cheap money creation on the part of central banks. Hopes of further quantitative easing from the Fed, the Bank of England, or the Bank of Japan – or further longer-term refinancing operations from the ECB – buoy markets, while decisions not to intervene can cause stocks to plummet. Policy makers focus on spurring consumption, while ignoring production. The so-called capitalists have forgotten that capital cannot be created by government fiat.

The Republican National Committee has sent a stern letter to the Nevada Republican Party warning the state not to draw too heavily from supporters of Texas Congressman Ron Paul (R) for its delegates, reports DC insider blog “The Hill.” If the delegation fails to feature the 20 out of 28 supporters it needs for former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney (R), the national committee has warned that it will refuse to seat them at the Republican National Convention this summer.
Rachel Maddow has reported that at this juncture, no delegates have been awarded to any of the candidates from Michigan, Iowa and other states including Nevada. Paul and his supporters have been using their own strategy, including some of the more obscure rules of delegate selection, to pack state committees with their own delegates.
Paul enjoys strong support in Nevada. National officials are becoming worried that the congressman’s popularity could throw a wrench into the works of an otherwise smooth nomination process for Romney.
RNC chief counsel John R. Phillippe Jr. wrote to Nevada GOP chair Michael McDonald, “I believe it is highly likely that any committee with jurisdiction over the matter would find improper any change to the election, selection, allocation, or binding of delegates, thus jeopardizing the seating of Nevada’s entire delegation to the National Convention.”
Typically, delegate distribution is meant to reflect the state’s caucus vote, which took place on February 4, with Romney winning more than 50 percent of the votes cast. National Republicans are concerned that Paul-friendly delegates will use their power in Nevada to game the state convention in Sparks, Nevada this weekend, thus opening the possibility that they will send a delegation to Tampa this summer that will flout party rules and support their candidate over the party’s nominee.
Las Vegas Sun columnist Jon Ralston wrote that Nevada’s GOP chair McDonald is “close to some of the Paul folks. He adds that he doesn’t think Paul’s supporters “respect authority too much,” which creates the distinct possibility of havoc this weekend, a prospect that Ralston finds “too delicious.”
Paul himself expressed optimism in an interview with Bloomberg TV on Monday.
“Just look at this last week,” he said, “The news is very favorable to us. We could even end up winning Iowa, ironically enough. In Minnesota, we’re doing well, and Maine, Nevada and Missouri. We’re doing very, very well. Some of the states we could very well win or come up very much because the delegate process is completely different than these straw votes. We’re pleased … It’s another month or so until they count all the delegates and we find out where we stand.”
Initial vote counts said that Mitt Romney won the Iowa caucus, which was one of the earliest primary votes, held on January 3. Recounts have since then shown that the majority of votes in the state were actually won by Paul.
