Fatal hit-and-run driver gets year, then deportation

A 17-year-old boy has admitted to gross vehicular manslaughter charges in Sacramento Juvenile Court in the hit-and-run death of a 58-year-old man, prosecutors said today.

The Oct. 10 collision killed Aman Khanna, who was on his way to work in one of two jobs he held.

The youth, whose name is being withheld because of his age, was under the influence of alcohol and was driving 80 miles per hour when he ran and red light and struck Khanna at the intersection of Cottage and Fulton, according to the Sacramento district attorney's office.

Khanna supported his mother, wife and three daughters.

Deputy District Attorney Joy Smiley said in a press release that his death left his family in "severe emotional and financial distress." Smiley said the family's "finances have been depleted" and that his passing left them "with no way to support themselves."

The teenaged defendant will be committed to the Sacramento County Boys Ranch for one year and then will be deported to Mexico upon his release, prosecutors said

Aren't the boy's parents liable for his actions since he is a minor? That is if they show the "good morals" to claim him. Then again, they may sacrifice him to save their own skins.

The Khanna's need to sue his family and the city, the owner of the car also.

One year for such a heinous crime IS a crime in itself, but then CA has a more lenient set of "laws" for illegal aliens.

Only one year???? and then deported! so he can just trek across the border again the same day!

At the very least he should have to work and support the mans wife and 3 daughters until the girls are of age....then maybe he should have to send them to college also!

Once again this p.o.s. terrorist and drug cartel supporting so called "government" has shown it's contempt for Americans as it values and places the lives and interests of illegal aliens above and ahead of the American people for cheap illegal labor and illegal alien votes.........

James, it was the victim who was the sole supporter for his family. We don't know the legal status of him or his family.

The killer's family should be held liable for his actions and deported.

He should go to work, hard labor, for 20 hours a day, and give all his earnings to the family of the man who was run over.
If he's sent to juvenille detention, he will be watching TV all day and working out--he should make restitution! If you are in California, write to your congressperson about this. He shouldn't be sent to a facility where he can rest and relax and we pay for his keep--write your elected officials please!!!

Welcome, squwackie! And you are right that CA congressmen should be hounded.
I just wish were some patriotism and sanity tests any candidate would have to go through before their names are put on the ballot. Unfortunately, we only have to rely on their rhetoric.
