DNA samples were collected during the investigation from a knife and under fingernails.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Clarksville double murder has been solved nearly a decade later, after a recent
    immigration arrest in Georgia.

According to a release from the Clarksville Police Department, the homicides happened on Oct. 9, 2013 when officers were called to a house fire at 436 North Randolph Avenue. Two men were found stabbed to death inside the house.

"It was a very complicated crime scene that day," Clarksville Police Chief Nathan Walls said. "Most of us who were working during that time remember how gruesome it was."

DNA samples were collected during the investigation from a knife and under fingernails. This identified the victims as
Amando "Miguel" Rodriguez Solis and Julio Cesar Ventura Monzon.

Fire officials determined that the fire was the result of arson and turned the investigation over to Clarksville police. During an investigation, Clarksville detectives determined that a third person was also living in the home, but his whereabouts are unknown.

    That person,
Carlos Alberto Bonilla-Canenguez, 46, was arrested in July and is currently being held at a federal ICE facility
    in Georgia.

"This is a good thing, it can show the public how far technology has gone and hopefully it shows the criminals there's very few places you can hide now," Walls said.

Clarksville police said it was notified after his name and information were flagged upon his arrest.
Bonilla-Canenguez is charged with two counts of murder and is currently awaiting extradition to Indiana.

"Bringing this guy to jail is not going to save them, not going to bring them back, but it's the best that we can do and there is a sense of fulfillment," Walls said.
