Illegal Alien Accused of Killing Connecticut Police Officer, Mother of 3 in Drunk Driving Crash

An illegal alien is accused of killing a police officer and a mother of three in Danbury, Connecticut, in a drunk driving crash.

Melissa Ramirez, a 27-year-old illegal alien, has been arrested by the Danbury Police Department and charged with two counts of second-degree manslaughter with a motor vehicle, as well as illegal operation of a motor vehicle under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

According to police, on July 13 at around 2:45 a.m., Ramirez was driving a 2012 Jeep Compass over the speed limit at 63 mph when she allegedly veered into the other lane and crashed head-on into a Harley-Davidson motorcycle that 38-year-old Bridgeport policeman Cooper Whiteside had been driving with his girlfriend, 34-year-old Brittany Islami, on the back.

Whiteside and Islami were pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. Whiteside, survived by his parents and other family, played the violin and the piano. He was a police officer, as well as a firefighter and had been credited with saving a man’s life in 2010.

“After only 2 years on the force, Cooper had made of himself an officer of distinction, never wavering in his purpose to serve and protect with integrity, humility, and compassion,” his obituary reads.

Cooper was not only a dedicated Bridgeport police officer and member of the West Redding Volunteer Fire Department, but also one of my constituents. He dedicated his life to serving others, and his commitment to his community will not be forgotten.

My deepest condolences to their families, loved ones, the Bridgeport Police Department, the West Redding Volunteer Fire Department, and everyone mourning this devastating loss. May they both rest in peace.

Islami leaves behind her three young children, 12-year-old Hayleigh, 10-year-old Madison, and 7-year-old Logan. Her obituary describes her as a devoted mother and the life of the party.

“Brittany was the epitome of living life to the fullest,” her obituary reads. “She made sure her children lived that same way; going to sporting events, school and town events, and trips. Her life revolved around her children.”

A GoFundMe fundraiser has been created to help Islami’s children.

At the time of the crash, Ramirez’s blood alcohol level was twice the legal limit, police say, and she had marijuana in her system as well. An affidavit states that police found an empty Corona beer bottle in the trunk of Ramirez’s car in addition to THC cartridges.

Ramirez is being held in police custody on a $500,000 bond. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has lodged a detainer against her, seeking custody if she is released from jail at any time.

An infuriating tragedy unfolded this month as an illegal migrant killed a Connecticut police officer and his girlfriend in a traffic ‘accident,’ and the news gets even more outrageous.

As The New York Post reported on Tuesday, 27-year-old Melissa Ramirez, who is from Mexico, was speeding in a 45 mph zone when she smacked into 38-year-old Connecticut policeman Cooper Whiteside’s Harley Davidson on July 13.

This sent Whiteside and his 34-year-old girlfriend, Brittany Islami, flying through the air. Both were killed.

Per the Post, police stumbled upon a horrific scene:

Whiteside, a Bridgeport police officer, was found “lying in a supine position” and he sustained “significant injuries to his head, upper extremities and torso,” police said in their report.

“His right femur was protruding through the skin,” cops added, noting there was a “large pool of blood” in the road.

Islami — a mom to three children aged 7, 10, and 12 — suffered “significant injuries” and “had blood around her face,” police said, noting she wasn’t wearing a helmet.

When cops searched Ramierez’s vehicle, they found beer spilled all over the place. They also discovered a THC vape cartridge.

Cops found that Ramirez’s blood alcohol content was 0.14, which is almost twice the legal limit (0.08 ). She also tested positive for cannabis.

Aaron Wolen, one of the responding cops, revealed that he “noticed that her eyes were watery and bloodshot and that a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage was emanating from her person.”

The Department of Homeland Security confirmed to The Post that Ramirez entered America illegally.

“Melissa Esperanza Ramirez-Romero is a criminal illegal alien with charges for Vehicular Manslaughter and DUI. On July 26, 2026, ICE lodged a detainer against her,” the department told the paper.

To make things even more infuriating, Ramirez is not only registered to vote in Connecticut but has voted REPEATEDLY.

We can all guess which party she has supported.

In addition, the Democrat-appointed judge LOWERED Ramirez’s bond from $500,000 to $300,000, citing her “deep ties to the community.”

Yet another black-robed tyrant who needs to be removed from the bench.

Ramierez has been charged with two counts of manslaughter, along with a DUI.

She appeared in court on Monday and is scheduled to make a second appearance on August 31.
