MCSO arrests 47-year-old illegal immigrant for murder

The Midland County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) is currently investigating a suspected murder that took place within the county.

According to a February 25 Facebook post by the sheriff’s office, authorities responded to a call concerning a gunshot victim located in the 2600 block of WCR 123. The victim was identified as 44-year-old Hilda Belloc Aranda, who later died from her injuries, the MCSO said.

The investigation conducted by the MCSO identified the alleged perpetrator as 47-year-old Aldo Isaac Aranda-Cortez. Deputies executed a warrant for murder and located Aranda-Cortez in the 1300 block of North Lamesa in Martin County, where he was apprehended without incident.

According to the post, investigators determined that Aranda-Cortez is an illegal immigrant. He has been booked into the Midland County Central Detention Center on charges of murder with an immigration detainer.
