Waterbury (AP) _ A woman who killed a man in a drunken driving crash in Waterbury has been sentenced to eight years in prison.
Saraha Maldonado, 24, pleaded guilty in December to first-degree manslaughter.
Police say that on Jan. 29, 2007, Maldonado tried to speed off after the car she was driving hit a Ford Expedition at a city intersection.
A passenger in the Expedition, 46-year-old Howard Allen of Bridgeport, jumped on the hood of the car the woman was driving. Police say Allen was thrown from the hood and died a short time later.
The prosecutor says Maldonado, who entered the United States illegally, will be deported to Mexico after finishing her prison sentence.

He died trying to stop her from leaving the scene? Should have been a murder, not manslaughter, charge. This was not an "accidental" death.

Wow I just posted my views about this at zeezils other thread "Van driver in Cottonwood school bus crash charged with identity theft, falsely representing Social Security number"
It talks about the four slaughtered children in Minasota, but even without adjusting my comments I'm sure you can see the fit here as well.

Have y'all read the comments there. Lisa from Warwick, RI complianed that there are no driving manuals in English is Miami, just in Spanish. Limpy from New Haven, CT wrote [...and so she'll serve about four years. Since most American men live to about 76, she robbed him of about 40 years...and she loses around 4. Too bad the fence I keep hearing about wasn't there to help keep this killer out of our country. That poor man...we sure let him (and his family) down. Quote ] Jon from Newton, CT posted an article (Don't know if it is a repeat post).

BREWSTER, N.Y.-- A teen arrested last month for criminal mischief was charged on Thursday with beating and stabbing a 53-year-old Brewster man last summer.
Marcos Antonio-Guerra, 17, of Hoyt Street, an undocumented alien from Mexico, was charged with first-degree assault in connection with the attack, which police said occurred on the evening of July 28 on Marvin Avenue.
Investigators from the Putnam County sheriff's office said that Antonio-Guerra stabbed the victim in the neck with a sheetrock knife, then kicked him in the face. The man, who sustained fractures to his nose and jaw, was taken to Putnam Hospital Center for emergency surgery.
The suspect was initially arrested in late January and charged with breaking the front window of a Main Street business. Information developed since that arrest resulted in the additional charge, police said.
Investigators notified Immigrations and Customs Enforcement of the arrest, and Antonio-Guerra faces deportation proceedings after his release from jail. ]
