A Mexican native [Jose Rosendo Ortiz-Contreras] was sentenced this week to 25 years in prison for his role in a 12-year-old murder case ... the murder of Hermilo Nilo Zapot-Coto of Newberg, who was bludgeoned, strangled, weighted down and dumped into the Willamette River in August of 1996.

Under Oregon's sentencing guidelines, Ortiz will have to serve the full 25 years, after which he will be subject to deportation.

NEW CITY, N.Y -- Hours after a suburban housewife was raped and murdered, ... the caller was Douglas Herrera Castellanos, who is on trial for the murder of Mary Nagle, 42. They charge that Herrera, who had been assigned by a contractor to clean the Nagle family's deck, raped and brutally killed her in her bedroom last April 29.
