President Elect Obama:

Right now you are surrounded by voices from nonprofit groups and Global corporations, with millions of dollars at their disposal that are lobbying you to pass a form of amnesty or path to citizenship for illegal aliens. They also want you to expand legal immigration levels, stop the fence construction and border patrol operations, and end the immigration raids of employers.

Your oath of office and the US Constitution requires you to enforce the existing immigration laws passed by Congress, regardless of your personal views. The current laws state that the borders are to be secured, illegal aliens are to be sent home, and employers who hire illegal aliens are to be fined or imprisoned. Today's news reports make it clear that very few of these laws are being enforced.

The entire American political system is in jeopardy because these special interest groups dictate policy in America, instead of the duly elected Representatives of "We, The People."

Regardless of several designer polls, the American public favors enforcement over a path to citizenship by more than 2 to 1. The majority of polls show over 80% support for enforcement measures. Increased enforcement in America, combined with the bad economy, has already started a reversal of illegal immigration in America, thus removing any need for Comprehensive Immigration Reform, which I believe would stop that progress.

The executive branch actions and legislation you are being asked to support is designed to gut America's immigration enforcement. Turning millions of illegal aliens into future voters would destroy any future hopes for border security or immigration enforcement through legal political channels.

The American public is being sent a very dangerous message from Washington these days. We are being told that our existing laws mean nothing and therefore our votes mean nothing. We are being told that the laws will be changed to accommodate big business and those who break the laws, even though the negative impact on our citizens and nation are horrific.

I could write pages enumerating the hundreds of different reasons that illegal immigration is bad for America and bad for Americans. I won't waste the space because you should already know these reasons.

Please honor your oath of office, the Constitution, the existing immigration laws, and the will of a vast majority of Americans of all races by increasing enforcement of our existing immigration laws. This will lead to a stabilization of the situation over time.

If you attempt to override the recent and almost exclusively immigration enforcement oriented legislation passed in over 35 states and in hundreds of cities and towns by executive order or new legislation, the political consequences for our nation will be dire.

In states and towns where lawmakers still value their role as representatives of American citizens instead of global special interests, the verdict is in. Americans want more enforcement and not legalization.

You have a real opportunity as a new President to tell these special interests that your obligations are to the American public, and not their political and financial ambitions, which are harmful to America.
