Sample Letter:
Honorable Members of the Raleigh City Council:
I am writing today to request that you immediately rescind your plan to offer $500 bonuses to Spanish speaking employees. This practice is discriminatory towards legal American citizens. Legal immigrants are required to know English. You are spending our tax dollars to assist illegal aliens and this is inappropriate.
Furthermore, why are you not offering the bonus to those that speak languages other than Spanish?
As our elected officials, you are charged with representing our legal citizens that favor English as our national language 8 to 1! You should not discriminate against Americans that speak English. You should not be working to make the city of Raleigh more attractive to illegal aliens and those who refuse to assimilate into our community.
This practice should cease immediately or, at the very least, the bonus should be offered to any city employee that speaks any foreign language.
I look forward to your response.

I've emailed all 8 councilmen the message below:
I find it deeply disturbing that the city of Raleigh will give a $500 "bonus" to city workers who can pass a "Spanish test". This is catering to illegal immigrants since legal immigrants should be able to speak English.
Do you plan to offer the "test" in other languages so those who are fluent in Japanese, Chinese, Italian, etc., will have the same opportunity for this "bonus"? If not, you are discriminating against those employees.Join our efforts to Secure America's Borders and End Illegal Immigration by Joining ALIPAC's E-Mail Alerts network (CLICK HERE)

OK, I wrote to the mayor and some of the counsel members. I told them it is wrong to put this burden on the taxpayers and that I hoped they would reconsider the travesty of awarding bonuses to Spanish speaking employees in an attempt to cater to the hoardes of illegal immigrants that are flocking into the area. I mentioned every other nationality I could think of without filling up a page and asked what those people would think of this plan.

My letter to the WHOLE LIST:
I was just STUNNED to learn that Raleigh is offering $500 bonuses to SPANISH-speaking employees of your city. This is just UNBELIEVABLE. Thank goodness, I am NOT a resident of Raleigh but I AM a resident of North Carolina and I will make SURE that this does NOT happen in my area if I can do ANYTHING to prevent it.
How much are you offering to employees who speak French? German?? Swahili? Arabic? Why did you choose only ONE LANGUAGE for your reward system?
It might have escaped YOU but it SURE has not escaped ME that, in order to pass the Citizenship Test, any immigrant must speak English so what you are doing is rewarding ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS by catering to THEIR DEMANDS. A HUGE majority of AMERICANS are fighting to see English designated our official language. NORTH CAROLINIANS are demanding that the state take action to designate English as OUR official language. What could you POSSIBLY have been thinking when you took this action?
Americans are RISING UP and demanding that ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION BE STOPPED IMMEDIATELY so it appears to me that, not only are you going against the tide of public opinion, you are OPENLY ENCOURAGING the use of another language in our state and in our country. I bet, if you took a survey of people in North Carolina, you would find that an OVERWHELMING MAJORITY of North Carolina residents are infuriated that every document and every service in our state are being offered in one FOREIGN language--SPANISH. I bet you would also find that the majority of North Carolinians are SICK TO DEATH of having to "PRESS 1 for ENGLISH". THAT should be a GIVEN. There should be NO OTHER CHOICES OR there should be choices of MANY other languages if this is to be representative of our immigrant population.
I am going to continue to pursue the answer to a question I have about the cost to our state for all of these services that we are providing in Spanish. Whatever it is, and I'm sure it's MASSIVE, I am going to be actively lobbying to put a SCREECHING HALT to this malarkey.
You should be glad to know that I don't live in any of your districts because I would be working my fingers to the bone to DEFEAT EVERY LAST ONE OF YOU WHO VOTED FOR THIS ACTION.
