1. "Pay Taxes". Since most illegal aliens would not pay income taxes but instead receive "earned income" payments from the IRS, most respondents probably think that would disqualify those illegals from amnesty.

2. "Obey the law". Doesn't that mean prison time for all the fake ID, SSNs, and I-9s the illegals have been using?

What Americans think the question says, and what the politicians really plan to do are two totally different things, thus explaining the discrepancy.
