Senator DeMint was just on Glenn Beck. He said they killed the Fairness Doctrine for now, but they'll be back with it again in the future.

    Dirbin's amendment/Fairness Doctrine

A snowball in hell stands a better chance than my calling and reaching either of my senators. Boxer and Feinstein are impossible to reach and DO NOT GIVE A DAMN about what we the people want. They have their own agenda (Communism). Doubt what I say - Alan Lowenthal introduced Bill #1322 last year to allow Communist to hold public office (forbidden by U.S. Codes). It was overwhelmingly supported by Democrats; I did not find one Republican on the list and I do not know that Boxer or Feinstein made so much as a squeak. Also the Bay Area Council met in Sacramento this week to discuss the possibility of a Constitutional Convention. We can not allow the government or big business the opportunity to destroy our Constitution. Obama has enough people in his administration working on this already. Some idiot in New York introduced a bill in January to remove term limits for the president. You think Socialism; I know Communism is coming if we do not get our act together. United we stand, Divided we fall. Any of you folks signed up with the Patriotic Resistance? (resistnet.com) March to protect our constitution is in the process for September. Spread the word. Get more involved.

Look at those votes for Durbin's amendment. All the yeas were D's and all the nays were R's.

If they seriously attack talk radio and some tv shows there is going to be a serious backlash.

The libs have control of most the newspapers (tanking) and the tv stations. They had their turn with the Fairness Doctrine years ago and it didn't work.

Our freedom of speech must be protected! If you don't like what someone is saying turn off the station or channel. Simple as that.

I will call Demint's office first thing in the morning. I do not like how this was handled at all.

It is my understanding that Demint made his move to counter Durbin and alert the nation to the underhanded trick Durbin was about to pull.

And am I correct that we still have no text of the Durbin amendment that passed?!?!?!?

PS: A source of mine in DC claims that it was about 40 minutes from the time Durbin pulled that Amendment out of his butt crack and the time they voted on it. (unconfirmed)

This is all I could find:

SA 591. Mr. DURBIN submitted an amendment intended to be proposed by him to the bill S. 160, to provide the District of Columbia a voting seat and the State of Utah an additional seat in the House of Representatives; as follows:

At the end of the bill add the following:

    SEC. 9. FCC AUTHORITIES.

    (a) Clarification of General Powers.--Title III of the Communications Act of 1934 is amended by inserting after section 303 (47 U.S.C. 303) the following new section:

``SEC. 303B. CLARIFICATION OF GENERAL POWERS.

``(a) Certain Affirmative Actions Required.--The Commission shall take actions to encourage and promote diversity in communication media ownership and to ensure that broadcast station licenses are used in the public interest.

``(b) Construction.--Nothing in section 303A shall be construed to limit the authority of the Commission regarding matters unrelated to a requirement that broadcasters present or ascertain opposing viewpoints on issues of public importance.''.

    (b) Severability.--Notwithstanding section 7(a), if any provision of section 2(a)(1), 2(b)(1), or 3 or any amendment made by those sections is declared or held invalid or unenforceable by a court of competent jurisdiction, the amendment made by subsection (a) and the application of such amendment to any other person or circumstance shall not be affected by such holding.
