We all know when the heat is on the opposition cooks up a smear campaign. Key words: "nasty" "racist" "hate", and gaining popularity: "death threats".

IF El Pueblo is getting "death threats" it's probably a scheme within their own organization in order to gain sympathy and publicity while making an attempt to put a black mark on a good man who effectively opposes their agenda.

Turmoil before Triumph! We've got your back, W! Thank you for all you do!

I'm glad that you are prepared W......as if there could ever be any doubt that you would be prepared.

But also, and I don't expect you to address this in an open forum, you should consult an attorney if you have not already done so.

If anyone has the time, please help me find the circulation numbers for the N&O.

If I have to respond by addressing their readers, I need to know what ballpark I'm in for phone bank contacts and or direct mail volumes.

is the regional daily newspaper of the Research Triangle area of the U.S. state of North Carolina. The N&O, as it is popularly called, is based in Raleigh and also covers Durham, Cary and Chapel Hill. The paper also has substantial readership in the eastern portion of the state. It is the state's second-largest newspaper, after The Charlotte Observer. The paper has won three Pulitzer Prizes, most recently in 1996 for a computer-assisted investigation of the North Carolina hog industry. [2]

The News & Observer Publishing Co. also publishes several weekly local newspapers, in Cary, Chapel Hill, eastern Wake County, and Johnston County. The newspaper became an online service provider and offered one of the first World Wide Web news sites with Nando.net in 1994. In 1995, the paper was bought by McClatchy Co. of Sacramento, California.

The publisher is Orage Quarles, who was named the nation’s outstanding publisher by Editor and Publisher magazine in 2002. In 2007, John Drescher was named executive editor, succeeding Melanie Sill. The paper has a daily circulation of approximately 176,000 and a Sunday circulation of approximately 211,000[1].

The News & Observer will eliminate 70 jobs as part of widespread cost-cutting at parent company McClatchy Co., the Raleigh newspaper said Monday.

The Raleigh newspaper said the cuts will affect all aspects of the paper, from news and advertising to circulation and production. The N&O will have about 875 workers after the cuts.

"This is a painful but necessary step," publisher Orage Quarles III said in e-mail to employees Monday.

A story on the News & Observer's Web site reported that Editor John Drescher said in an e-mail to staff that 16 full-time and part-time employees in the newsroom would be affected by the cuts. The N&O also is combining its Business section with its City & State section Tuesday through Saturday.

In addition, the N&O said in its report, the newspaper will produce only two editions each night, instead of the current three. The N&O and sister paper The Charlotte Observer also will combine their political, sports and research departments. The Charlotte paper will cut 123 jobs, including 22 in the newsroom, a report on its Web site says.

News of the N&O layoffs comes the same day that Sacramento, Calif.-based McClatchy, the paper's corporate parent, said it would cut the equivalent of 1,400 full-time workers - 10 percent of its total work force.

McClatchy blamed falling revenue for the move. It said cuts would come from both voluntary and involuntary layoffs as well as the elimination of unfilled positions.

"We have been transitioning steadily and successfully from a traditional newspaper company to an integrated multimedia company for some time," McClatchy CEO Gary Pruitt said in a statement. "The effects of the current national economic downturn - particularly in real estate, auto and employment advertising - make it essential that we move faster now to realign our workforce and make our operations more efficient. I'm sorry this requires the painful announcement we are making today, but we're taking this action to help ensure a healthy future for our company."

McClatchy has been hit hard by a general downturn in the daily newspaper industry, which is losing advertising dollars to online classifieds and search engine traffic.

And those problems have been exacerbated by the economic downturn. McClatchy gets about a third of its revenue from California and Florida - states where the housing markets have been particularly weak, leading big advertisers to drastically cut spending.

Other big McClatchy publications also will see major layoffs. The Miami Herald will cut 250 jobs, and The Kansas City Star will cut 120.

211,000 is a little tough for direct mail. The cheapest I could get that for us would be around $50,000

On the other hand, we could launch a boycott of N&O or a national boycott of McClatchy since this is the second hit from one their newspapers in a month and they are heavily invested in the Spanish media thus they have an invested interest in continued illegal immigration.

I could target 500,000 likely voters in their distribution range for about $14,000 for one minute robotic calls or phone banks and tie that in with a boycott or counter message.

I'm sure if we passed that hat among our NC supporters for that project, they would chip in the 14k we need.

How many newspapers does McClatchy own now, not counting all the Spanish publications they bought up?

We're behind you all the way W.

Until this country is once again ruled by the American Citizens we won't rest.

I got rid of that rag the Charlotte Observer (same owner?) years ago.
All these newspapers provide is elitest and excentric propoganda for the socialist and communist cause which ultimately leads to dumbed down Americans.

    GO GET"EM TIGER!
Unless we get those criminals & make them pay for what they have done to our country and the lawlessness they have sponsored, we are just another Mexico ourselves!
