You decide which way the Amnesty dominoes will fall!

    Friends of ALIPAC,

The decisions you make at this very moment about how much time and energy you will or will not put into these e-mail alerts can easily be the deciding factor on Amnesty for illegal aliens in 2009.

The political dominoes are wobbling and while Arkansas has gone our way, many other states are in play. If we defeat in-state tuition for illegals in these other states then the dominoes will fall against the big dominoes in DC which are the Dream Act Amnesty prelude to the Comprehensive Immigration Reform Amnesty. If too few of you respond with too little time and energy, then in-state tuition for illegals will likely pass in NJ, CO, RI, CA, and WI which will topple the political dominoes towards the passage of amnesty in DC.

Members of Congress and the US Senate are very alert to state legislation that passes or fails in their home states. Victories for our side, which reflects the wishes over 80% of Americans, can help stop Amnesty in DC. Wins for the illegal aliens and their supporters will help them pass Amnesty.

The decision is yours based on how fervently you do or do not respond to our action requests.

If you have not completed your calls and e-mails to CO and NJ yet, please revisit yesterday's alert. While we are receiving a strong national response in CO, our sources in NJ tell us your responses are not adequate to create the political critical mass needed at this time.

ALIPAC Action Alert against in-state tuition for illegals in CO and NJ
    http://www.alipac.us/ftopict-150955.html

The National Council of La Raza and the Dream Activists have just made a major strategic mistake by launching their DC efforts in support of Dream early. They are falling back from the states, but you must help us advance in the states before we move on Washington!

For those of you that are completing your activities in CO and NJ, please advance to the next state on our political battle map!

    ALL HANDS TO WISCONSIN!

The Governor of Wisconsin is pushing his state legislators to pass in-state tuition for illegal aliens. Start your calls and e-mails with the Governor's office. Then we need you to contact every member of the Wisconsin house and senate you can.

Governor Doyle has inserted the provision into the state budget bill!

    Sample Message

    -----

"I am calling/writing to ask you to remove Governor Doyle's in-state tuition for illegal aliens measure from the state budget. Any bill like this should be considered in a separate bill instead of being inserted in a budget bill which deprives all Wisconsin citizens of due legislative process!

Furthermore, taxpayers should not be forced to pay for benefits for illegal aliens such as in-state tuition which will replace innocent American students in the limited seats in college. In-state tuition for illegal aliens is a violation of federal laws passed in 1996.

Recent polls show that 63-83% (for sources contact alipac.us) of Americans oppose in-state tuition for illegal aliens. Please represent the majority of your constituents that oppose this measure. In-state tuition bills have been rejected in every state they were filed in since 2005 with the exception of Nebraska. The US Congress has rejected similar 'Dream Act' legislation several times already."

Are there any tips on how to email these legislators en masse? I confess I am not too proficient with mass emailing.

Mass emailing may be possible but your chances of being screened out as spam will be very high.

Also, your mass message will be least likely to have any impact on the legislators.

Trust me on this, I used to be a legislative assistant.

E-mails from two of CO Senators /

    From:
    "Ted Harvey" <ted.house.senate@state.co.us>

Thanks for writing me about Senate Bill 170, the proposal to give in-state tuition to illegal immigrants.

I am opposed to this bill: I do not believe that law-abiding taxpayers should subsidize tuition for illegal immigrants. I have sponsored bills in the past to prohibit the government from giving in-state tuition to illegal immigrants, but so far none have been signed into law. Rest assured that I’ll keep up the fight against funding illegal immigrant social programs with taxpayer dollars.

Again, thanks for your e-mail. Please feel free to call me if you have any further questions or concerns: 303-866-4881.

    Sincerely,

    Ted Harvey
    State Senator, Douglas County

For Maximum impact in CO, NJ, and now Wisconsin, we encourage you to call each legislator listed in the action alerts.

Then follow-up your call with a personalized written message sent via e-mail, mail, or fax.

This requires time and legwork, but will maximize your chances of influencing individual lawmakers in these states.

My phone calls were accepted, but almost every email has come back wanting my Address and phone number. I have the feeling if the email isn't from their district they don't care what your opinion is!

Guess the phone calls are what counts.

Rep. LeMahieu opposes in-state tuition for illegal aliens and will not vote for this or any part of Gov. Doyle’s budget. He will fight to get this out of the budget; however the legislature is controlled in both houses by democrats that seem to support this measure. They don’t need republican help to pass it, as they have healthy majorities in both houses, and Governor Doyle to sign it. Nevertheless, we will fight hard to remove this provision, to make sure that Wisconsin students are given those slots to our University, and not illegals. This shouldn’t even be considered a bill at all, but if it was our vote would be no. Thank you for writing, hope this helps.

People pulling that stunt are likely those that are for in-state tuition for illegal aliens.
