    A Great Man Once Said...

"In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin.

But this is predicated upon the person's becoming in every facet an American, and nothing but an American...There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all.

We have room for but one flag, the American flag... We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language... and we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people."

Americans have values than can not be easily duplicated. It should be required in the test for citizenship than an applicant would have to go learn those values and tested "americanized" and promise under oath to live their daily new life by those values before becoming a citizen. I know more than 70% of the applicants for citizen would be rejected. They come from other countries with sequels , mostly psychological due to various reasons, which can not be reversed even in a life time.

    Another To the point quote,

You cannot dedicate yourself to America unless you become in every respect and with every purpose of your will thoroughly Americans. You cannot become thoroughly Americans if you think of yourselves in groups. A man who thinks of himself as belonging to a particular national group in America has not yet become an American.

The first requisite of a good citizen in this republic of ours is that he shall be able and willing to pull his own weight.

It is so sad that we are having to remind and reteach our nation about what it means to be a Loyal Allegiant American.

But, if that's what it takes, then that's what we'll do, right gang?

Yes, and it's hard and it's sad, but SOMEBODY has to do it, and I guess it's going to be US.

on September 11, there was a renewed patriotism in this country and I don't believe there was a single person that did not know what happened on that day. The problem with the illegal's is nobody's watching -- VERY FEW people even know about the protests in the streets, something I find unbelieveable. But what is more alarming is they don't seem to care. You would think these protests would be a wake up call for all Americans, but in fact, there's just a few of us.

    In fact, Mark Twain said
"In the beginning of a change the patriot is a scarce man, and brave, and hated and scorned. When his cause succeeds, the timid join him, for then it costs nothing to be a patriot."

"Man is the only Patriot. He sets himself apart in his own country, under his own flag, and sneers at the other nations, and keeps multitudinous uniformed assassins on hand at heavy expense to grab slices of other people's countries, and keep them from grabbing slices of his. And in the intervals between campaigns he washes the blood of his hands and works for "the universal brotherhood of man"- with his mouth."
The day will come when the people of this country SEE what their government has done -- this is an election year and I'm sure those that voted against the America people will have to answer for it during the debates and then at the polls

Every American Citizen needs to read this!
And British politician John Enoch Powell (1912-199 best known for his controversial stand on United Kingdom's immigration policies once delivered a speech that still rings true on a number of points.
    *****
"The supreme function of statesmanship is to provide against preventable evils. In seeking to do so, it encounters obstacles which are deeply rooted in human nature. One is that by the very order of things such evils are not demonstrable until they have occurred: at each stage in their onset there is room for doubt and for dispute whether they be real or imaginary. By the same token, they attract little attention in comparison with current troubles, which are both indisputable and pressing: whence the besetting temptation of all politics to concern itself with the immediate present at the expense of the future."
    *****
"But while, to the immigrant, entry to this country was admission to privileges and opportunities eagerly sought, the impact upon the existing population was very different. For reasons which they could not comprehend, and in pursuance of a decision by default, on which they were never consulted, they found themselves made strangers in their own country.

They found their wives unable to obtain hospital beds in childbirth, their children unable to obtain school places, their homes and neighbourhoods changed beyond recognition, their plans and prospects for the future defeated; at work they found that employers hesitated to apply to the
immigrant worker the standards of discipline and competence required of the native-born worker; they began to hear, as time went by, more and more voices which told them that they were now the unwanted. They now learn that a one-way privilege is to be established by act of parliament; a law which cannot, and is not intended to, operate to protect them or redress their grievances is to be enacted to give the stranger, the disgruntled and the agent-provocateur the power to pillory them for their private actions."

I am working on a flag I call the "TR" flag I want everyone to fly below the US flag in place of the state flag ....

Here is what everyone needs to know about the quote... I wanted to make sure it was a valid reference... It is slightly different than the one state in this string but the sentament is what counts...

We located the quote you inquired of as being from Theodore Roosevelt’s message to the President of the American Defense Society written January 3, 1919; last message, read at a meeting in New York on Jan 5, 1919. Our source for the citation is The Theodore Roosevelt Cyclopedia (Theodore Roosevelt Association and Meckler, 1989), 13 and 243.

The quote that has been circulated and cited as of late is not only misdated (1907 as opposed to 1919) but some of the wording is juxtaposed in different order from the original.

I hope that this is of some help.

    Best regards,

    John
