(STMW) – Three men were killed and at least 10 other people were injured in shootings across the city since Friday afternoon.

The most recent fatal shooting happened Saturday night when a man was shot in the head in the South Side Chatham neighborhood.

Leroy Griffin, 18, was in the 7900 block of South Lafayette Avenue about 7 p.m. when a dark-colored SUV pulled up and several suspects got out and opened fire, striking him in the head, authorities said.

Griffin, of the 7500 block of South Langley Avenue, was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was pronounced dead at 7:20 p.m., according to the medical examiner’s office.

Police said the shooting might be gang-related.

Another man died Saturday night after he was shot earlier in the day in the Belmont Cragin neighborhood on the Northwest Side.

Luciano Torres, 28, was sitting in a double-parked SUV in the 4800 block of West Deming Place about 4:30 a.m. when a red SUV pulled up and someone inside fired shots into the vehicle, authorities said. Police said the SUV fled the scene after the shooting.

Torres, of the 2300 block of North Newland Avenue, suffered gunshot wounds to the left side of his head and upper body, authorities said. He was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where he died at 6:36 p.m., according to the medical examiner’s office.

On Friday night, a man was shot to death outside his Northwest Side home.

Jeffrey Anderson, 29, was standing outside his home in the 2800 block of North Talman Street about 9:50 p.m. when two men approached on foot and fired at him, hitting him in the left shoulder, according to police and the medical examiner’s office.

Anderson then went into his residence, where he collapsed and was found dead at the scene, authorities said.

The most recent non-fatal shooting happened early Sunday when a man was shot in the South Side Grand Boulevard neighborhood.

The 27-year-old man was shot in the leg about 1:35 a.m. in the 4700 block of South Saint Lawrence Avenue, police said. He was taken to University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was listed in “stable” condition.

About 2:14 p.m. Saturday, a male was shot in the Washington Park neighborhood on the South Side.

The male, whose age was not immediately known, was in the 5600 block of South Michigan Avenue when he was shot in the buttocks. He was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in “stable” condition.

Two men were shot hours earlier around 4:30 a.m. Saturday in the North Side Edgewater neighborhood.

The men — ages 52 and 43 — were walking on the sidewalk in the 5800 block of North Kenmore Avenue about 4:30 a.m. when an unknown offender approached them from behind and fired numerous shots before running from the scene, police said.

The 52-year-old was shot in his right leg and taken to Saint Francis Hospital in Evanston in “stable” condition, police said.

The 43-year-old was hit in both legs and taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center in “stable” condition, police said.

About 2:50 a.m. Saturday, a man was shot in the hand in the West Town neighborhood.

The 44-year-old man was standing outside in the 1900 block of West Grand Avenue when a vehicle pulled up and a person inside fired numerous shots at him, police said. The vehicle then fled the scene.

The man was shot in his left hand and taken to Saint Mary Medical Center, where he was later released. Police said he has known gang affiliations.

Shortly after midnight Saturday, a man was shot in the head in the South Lawndale neighborhood on the West Side.

Officers responded to a call of a person shot in the 3300 block of West 30th Street and found the 28-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the head, police said. He was listed in “stable” condition at Mount Sinai Hospital.

About 7 p.m. Friday, a woman was seriously wounded in a shooting in the Chatham neighborhood on the South Side.

The 19-year-old woman was walking with a male acquaintance when she was shot multiple times in the 8200 block of South Drexel Avenue, police said. She was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn.

About 40 minutes earlier, a man was shot in the South Side Washington Park neighborhood.

The 26-year-old man was standing in a sidewalk in the 300 block of East 58th Street when someone approached and shot him multiple times, striking him in the buttocks. He was in “stable” condition Friday at John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County.

A boy was shot in the face around 5 p.m. in the Back of the Yards neighborhood on the South Side.

The 17-year-old boy was shot about 5:05 p.m. in the 1800 block of West 52nd Street, police said. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in serious condition.

The weekend’s first shooting occurred on a Chicago Public Schools Safe Passage Route Friday afternoon in the South Side Woodlawn neighborhood.

About 4:30 p.m., a 33-year-old man was standing in the 400 block of East 63rd Street when he was approached and shot by a male, believed to be between ages 17 and 20, police said.

The man sustained gunshot wounds to his neck and buttocks, police said. He took himself to Saint Bernard Hospital and Health Care Center, where he was in “stable” condition, but was then transported to John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County, where his condition is unknown.

The incident happened a block away from Dulles School of Excellence, 6311 S. Calument Ave., and is on a Safe Passage route, according to the Chicago Public Schools website.
