Fleeing SUV kills Mt. Juliet pair, police say
Driver in hospital; charges pending

A man and his wife were killed and another person was injured Thursday when a Madison man fled from police and crashed his SUV into two cars, Lakewood police said.

Metro police said Gustavo Rayes Garcia, 27, of 814 Anderson Lane, was going south on Old Hickory Boulevard when he collided with two cars traveling north near Southfork Boulevard.




Garcia's vehicle crashed into a blue Oldsmobile, crossed Old Hickory Boulevard and collided head-on with a silver Buick.

The driver of the Buick, Sean Paul Wilson, 38, of Mt. Juliet, was pronounced dead at the scene. His wife, Donna Lynne Wilson, 47, a passenger, died later at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

The Oldsmobile's driver was in stable condition at St. Thomas Hospital on Thursday evening, police said.

Lakewood police said that Garcia drove away from a traffic stop near the Hermitage Golf Course minutes before the crashes.

Chief Lawrence Lee said he and another officer pulled Garcia's red SUV over about 11:30 a.m. on Old Hickory Boulevard because Garcia was driving erratically. Lee said that several open beer containers were visible in the truck and that Garcia had glassy eyes and slurred speech.

"I was talking to him. He threw the car in drive and nearly tried to run over me," Lee said.

Lee and another officer followed Garcia but did not activate their lights. They lost sight of the truck and came upon the crash about a mile and a half later.

"This was not a pursuit," Lee said.

Garcia has been arrested previously on charges of drunken driving, evading and resisting arrest, leaving the scene of an accident and driving on a revoked license, Metro police spokeswoman Amanda Sluss said.

He suffered serious injuries in the crash and is in Vanderbilt hospital. Charges against him are pending, police said. •

What a sad story.

After all the stories I've read about such situations, I am beginning to believe that Mexicans lack morality and a conscience...and Fox of Mexico wants us to treat his people with dignity and fairness even in the face of this continual crap.

Our elected officials should be damned ashamed of themselves to have let this get so out of control. I don't know how they can even consider amnesty. We should be able to recall bush ans get him the heck out of there. He's so out of touch with reality.

As I have said many times, you cannot expect people whose first act in this country is to violate its laws to be law-abiding citizens. Most of these dirtbags come from countries with situational ethics and legal systems that have less to do with the rule of law than with with what you can get away with or bribe your way out of.

Worse yet, the illegals largely use falsified identification, so they know that as long as they can evade immediate apprehension, they are likely scot free. And what's an APB supposed to look like? Hispanic male; 5'8", medium build; black hair, brown eyes. Yeah, that's gonna help apprehending the guy in the weeks ahead!

Crocketsghost, we have enough problems in this country without allowing the dysfunctional Mexican mentality to make things worse....just look at the way the corrupt Mexican society functions....and you are 100% right, their attitude is as long as you can get away with it, then it's okay. Well, cross me the wrong way or break into my home and there will be a different outcome.

I used to fish Mexico off Baja and Mazatlan. It's a great place to charter a boat and the fishing is some of the best in the world. I no longer fish there because I got tired of watching the damned captains and their hands gaff protected sea turtles and violate numerous other international environmental laws. As you say, they get away with whatever they can get away with, and that is the lawless mentality that they bring here with them.

I almost got brained with a crowbar last year when a Mexican, likely an illegal, came out of the bank and got into his little hotrod parked in the handicapped parking spot at my bank while I was at the ATM.

I said, "Hey bud, that spot is for handicapped people."

The dirtbag arrogantly responded, "I do what I want," in broken English.

I replied, "Well, you're in America now, so you had better get used to the laws or go back home."

The guy pulled away and I continued with my transaction. A minute or so later when I had finished with the ATM, I was crossing the lot back to my car when the guy circled wildly back through the lot, threw his car in park and jumped out with a crowbar and began running toward me. Fortunately for all concerned, the bank security guard must have been looking out the window, because he came running out the door yelling "Hold it right there!"

The Mexican ran back to his car and sped off. We got the plate number and reported it to the police. Imagine my surprise when the police showed no interest whatsoever in taking the report.

Now consider this: This idiot was prepared to commit assault with a deadly weapon because I had the temerity to mention to him that he was breaking the law.

What else did you expect? This jackass administration has given illegal aliens permission to kill, mame, rob, molest and rape adults and children with impunity as El Bushero doesn't care what happens to Americans. And if illegal aliens are charged with anything it is only after they have committed multiple offenses and it results in death or serious injury. And there still is no guarantee of that with Vincente Bush's brother Fox sending lawyers to defend his illegal scumbags and their advocates and politicians protecting them as well. American citizens lives mean nothing to this government in the interest of cheap and compliant labor.
