    Interesting Encounter Today

Recently I was in a group meeting with some people in our community. We were talking about illegal immigration. One lady said that they had gone down to the apple orchards in the N. Bay area. She saw apples all over the ground. The owner appeared to be in the orchard and she asked why the apples were on the ground. The usual excuse I can't get workers to pick we need more foreign workers. When she asked, "why don't you hire some students to come in during their summer off to help you?" I can't afford to take the risk if someone gets hurt and they sue me" Code for: If I hire illegals, I pay them less and if they're hurt, I take them to emergency and the taxpayer pays for it.

Well, today I was at a farmers market. The cutest little boy comes up and asks if I would like to taste their apples. I said, "sure." They were really good. So I teased him as asked, "Did you pick these apples?" Cute little nod up and down. Then mom behind her table said, "well its him and mom and dad and grandma and grandpa and sisters and brothers."

So I said, "this is a family orchard and you do all the work?" Yes was the answer. I told her that I would not be attending the Gravenstein Apple Fair any longer because of the above conversation. She totally agreed with me. She said that even the magazine to promote the fair did not feature older generations of orchard owners who were ethical but the big business owners. I bought apples. I gave her some of my business cards for our local group to fight illegal immigration. She said, "I have a lot of people I can give these too." I promptly reached for more cards, jotted down NumbersUSA and Alipac.us. I said the website has the links to these two very important groups. I told her of specific problems and told her if we don't do something this young man won't have a future. Her jaw dropped when I gave her some specific examples of what is happening out there.
    She was astounded.

In the end, I came back, bought more apples for friends, asked if she had a website and found it was their first year in business. I gave her information on how to get free business cards and set up a very inexpensive website. She was grateful and interested. Sooooo I hope we have even more newbies from the N Bay area of CA. There are more conservatives and people angry about illegal immigration than you would think here in CA.

Keep talking to individuals. You never know how the contact can network the information out to friends, family, and neighbors.

Good work, Gogo. Everyone I talk to who came here legally, went through the paperwork mess and medical exams, is absolutely livid about the IA situation. Amazing how little press coverage, if any, they get!

Great work, GoGo! That's what it takes, patriots like you willing to engage the public about ths issue and educate them in a civil way of discourse. Too many people know so little as to what is really going on because they just get smatterings from the biased drive-by media.

    Thanks everyone.

You are so right zeezil it is about educating them in a civil way. When they have no idea because of liberal media of what is going on they are almost in shock. All I can say is each of us can do something. Have fliers made up or business cards with information about NumbersUSA and alipac.us. Have them at the ready. Have one or two stories that you've seen on alipac and that you can calmly relate to an individual. If they are receptive, give them your flier or business card.

You can get free business cards at this site. Be sure not to use copyrighted material but just as an information business card if you don't have a local group. We have a lull right now with Congress is out. Get more people involved during this time. This is the one I used:

Sad, but true. There IS however a silver lining. I've notice more articles about illegal aliens SUING their employers for not being paid overtime or getting paid at all. I hope every employer gets sued by their illegal alien employees. Kind of negates the "savings" of hiring illegal aliens, doesn't it?

Can't hire school kids because he's afraid of being sued. We can thank lawyers for this because we have become a sue-happy society.

Cool story Gogo, thanks for sharing!

Yesterday I stopped by a local farmers market on the lookout for safe tomatoes. As I was paying for my purchase, a Mexican family across the walkway started calling out "Hey lady, we got tomatoes cheap." I told them I prefer American tomatoes. The gentleman I was buying from thanked me and said they had been doing that all day. I told him I was willing to bet that the Mexican's tomatoes were not grown locally but rather purchased wholesale and resold. I trusted his produce far more. BTW, they were delicious!

Good for you ReggieMay. If more people do that, they'll give up and go somewhere else. Hey maybe you could start a campaign at your farmer's market. Hang out there when people come in there to buy tomatoes, you say this guys tomatos are locally grown not shipped in. I bet that would set them off. LOL

Great job GoGo and RegieMay. I'm in the auto business and have refused many job offers over the years to work for the imports (Toyota and Honda) I always refuse even though I have been offered as much as 50k more than I'm currently making. I say the same thing to them all " I feel that people that buy imports are selling out America as 82 cents on every dollar goes back to Japan. I cant say it enough, "Buy American, the job you save may be your own"
