WHY Latinos "CAN'T seem to GET ELECTED"

Latinos running for office in Irving, TX, are targeting the City Council and the school board. Some have run for office previously and been defeated and others are contending for the first time ever. Some of the candidates complain that "Latinos just CAN'T seem to GET ELECTED!" Well, from what I have read in the local paper about these candidates' attitudes on illegal immigration and assimilation, I simply CANNOT BLAME sensible Americans for REJECTING Latino candidates like THESE! Some of the Latino candidates say they are in favor of deporting ONLY illegals who are CONVICTED FELONS, NOT others who simply CROSSED the BORDER illegally! Others say that Irving needs MORE bilingual CITY employees to help better serve a DIVERSE population. I e-mailed the Dallas Morning News that while bilingual employees are a great asset anywhere, it would be FAR better for immigrants to LEARN English!

That's because even Hispanics are divided on the immigration issue. They(LULAC) are trying to get elected in Irving to stop the CAP program and stop the council from enacting immigration deterrent ordinances.

There are a great number of Hispanics in Texas that are not pro-illegal immigration and many of them are people that immigrated here legally and the children of immigrants. They are Texans and they realize the problems caused by illegal aliens.

Also, even though Irving has a high number of Hispanics, most may not be able to vote. For instance under age, illegal or non-citizens, which the Census report does not reflect in the demographic information.

I am offended. Where is the "en espanol" button the Dallas Morning News web site? I will report this to the General Hispanic Council of Media Affairs.

I refuse to vote for any ethno-centric individual, ever. As soon as I hear the pander speech, that person lost my vote.

What is the pander speech, you ask? It's a german speaking to a german only audience and using the phrases like "We are taking over" or "WE demand..." Now substitute german for any ONE ethnic group/race, etc and you have pander speech. People like that have a very narrow minded agenda and should NEVER hold any elected office.

You are elected by people in your community, regardless of ethnicity, race, religion, etc and you'd BETTER be representing ALL of them. If you can't do this, you have no business being in politics.

I WILL NEVER VOTE FOR ANY HISPANIC CANDIDATE WHO MAKES IT CLEAR THAT THEY WANT "CHANGE" AND WHO PLAN ON TRYING TO CHANGE OUR IMMIGRATION LAWS IN ORDER TO PANDER TO THEIR ETHNIC GROUP.

I am tired to voting for Hispanics who take oaths to uphold the constitution of America, and once they get elected, they suddenly change their entire outlook. They decided to ignore the oaths they took and revert back to helping their own. What about Americans? This is America, not a Latin American country.

I agree with you!!! I don't trust them anymore, and I do not think that I will EVER vote for a Hispanic for any office EVER again.

Salazar, Guitterez, Martinez, Nunez, Cedillo, Menendez, etc.----are all perfect examples of why they cannot be trusted, once they are elected.

I live in California and and I can assure that I will never vote for a candidate with a hispanic last name. I'm sorry it has to be that way but i'm sick and tired of the ethno-centric agenda these people seem to bring with them to any and every office they are elected to.

I still wonder how these people continue to get elected into office. You would think people would wise up and get a clue, especially here in CA. This is also the reason I continue to believe that illegals are voting in our elections. Who else would vote for these people, unless the anchor baby problem is much worse than we have realized.

Mr. Loya told me that it is HARD for DECENT Hispanic Americans to vote because Hispanic racists expect Hispanic Americans to vote FOR Hispanic candidates, EVEN the ETHNOCENTRIC ones! However, he REFUSES to support ANY such candidate, EVEN one from his OWN ethnic group, and sometimes catches a LOT of HEAT for being a REAL patriot! Mr. Loya told me that he is NOT a Hispanic first, he is an AMERICAN first! Well, dear Mr. Loya, SO ARE MOST of your FELLOW AMERICANS--INCLUDING ME!

Especially when 'their' President comes into our country and emboldens these illegal aliens. Mexico and its people are hell bent on trying to take this great nation over..problem is we have a President sitting on his hands ready to back Mexico by telling the state of Texas that they have to listen to the govt of Mexico..BS all the way.

My wife is of Spanish blood her family has been here since Texas became Texas. And she and some other Americans I know who are as one would say Hispanic Do Not like to see people from Mexico cross the border illegally.
Just like some of the Border patrol are of Spanish blood and they are true Americans and like me they really get ticked off when they see some one from another country waving a flag from another country in the USA
