I got this back from the Mayor:
Thank you for your e-mail, but you seem confused. Taneytown is not and never was
a "sancuary city" for anyone, much less illegal aliens. AS Mayor and council
members we are sworn to uphold the laws & constitution of Maryland. Anyone
committing illegal activity in the city will be prosecuted to the fullest
extent of the law, so Mr Chamberlien's proposal is unecessary, (and will do
nothing), it is already a crime to be in the country illegally a (and in our
city).
Please keep the police informed of any illeagal activity you may observe.Join our efforts to Secure America's Borders and End Illegal Immigration by Joining ALIPAC's E-Mail Alerts network (CLICK HERE)

Illegal immigrants resolution addressed only briefly
By Kathryn Leiter, Times Staff Writer Tuesday, December 11, 2007
TANEYTOWN — A resolution stating that the City of Taneytown is not a sanctuary for illegal aliens was addressed only briefly during Monday night’s council meeting.
The resolution was addressed by Councilman Paul Chamberlain Jr. at the start of the meeting. He said discussing the resolution would go against the city’s code.
According to chapter seven of the city code, “all reports, communications, ordinances, resolutions, contract documents or other matters to be submitted to the council shall, at least 24 hours prior to each council meeting, be delivered to the city clerk, whereupon the city clerk shall immediately arrange a list of such matters according to the order of business and furnish each member of the council with a copy of the same prior to the council meeting and as far in advance of the meeting as time for preparation will permit.â€Support our FIGHT AGAINST illegal immigration & Amnesty by joining our E-mail Alerts at https://eepurl.com/cktGTn
