Thread: Action Request - Comment on Green Cards without expirations

I agree with expiration dates and was in total shock that they actually had cards with no date.

The ONLY problem I had was the plan for notification was a slip of paper hanging on the wall at ICE. That is like telling everyone they need new vehicle registrations or they will be charged with a felony, but the only plan for notification is to hang a sign in the police stations. The vast majority of us NEVER have cause to visit our local station, we would all be felons. So I guess what I am saying is this. Since these people came here LEGALLY, every effort must be made to let them know the law has been changed. If they knew or should have known and fail to renew, boot them out.

As for stating these cards are the same as amnesty, I disagree. The definition of amnesty is this:

The Immigrants who got the lifetime pass did not break the law when they got their cards. They simply received what was given out at the time. They should not be considered to have broken any law by accepting these cards, it is not their fault we had idiots in office. There is no need for amnesty to be given.

Now for those who broke the law in coming here in the first place, that is totally different.

I would also like to add this, in a post 9-11 world, I think 10 years between renewals is too long. This is being said by someone whose husband had to fork out the big bucks and will again in a few years.

Cayla, I am in complete agreement with you on people with green cards if the rules have been changed they should be notified by mail, that should not be that hard to do in all fairness.

And the notification should be written in English. Anybody who has been here that long and hasn't learned English needs to be deported.
