While we value the input of our supporters, I don't see how the details of back end infrastructure or the hows and why's of what is nothing more than a supporting service being discussed could possibly further ALIPACs cause.

If there are usability issues, I'll be happy to do whatever I reasonably can to address them. Past that, there will be no comment on anything other than to say that there will be more maintenance windows in the future. A site this large with this many members requires maintenance. Without several hundred dollars a month in server hosting (plus several servers to begin with) this maintenance can't be done to the "live" environment.
Again, the lack of technical commentary is not meant to shut anyone out of anything, but it's simply not applicable to what we're here for. If you want to talk tech about web servers, join a forum dedicated to that. We won't be dscussing it here.

03-15-2006, 10:09 AM #14It's going to be a bit slower that it was before (home page generation averages about 2 seconds where it used to be just under 1 second), but it can handle more load now (generation goes up to about 4 or 5 seconds with 100 simutaneus requests....used to go up to 30+ seconds). I'm not experiencing the issues you described, and I'm guessing it happened only that once....is that the case?
