Friends of ALIPAC:

We are working on a platform and position statement regarding biometric technology and the fight to reduce illegal immigration. Some lawmakers, candidates, and citizens feel we should use everything we can to stop illegal immigration including biometrics. Others feel that many biometric technologies are a threat to civil liberties.

We have much to discuss here. As we debate our position, we must think of the long term ramifications of using biometric technologies. Currently, RFID, facial recognition, thumb print recognition, eye scans, and surgical implants are being used in the US. Many of these technologies are being used without the public's knowledge. The FDA just approved implanted microchips last week and we just received notice that US Passports will contain RFID tracking chips. Border patrol agents currently use biometric thumb prints to scan and track illegal aliens that cross the border.

Please take the time to look into the latest news and opinions on these technologies and please let us know what you think ALIPAC's position should be. Please state if you are a member or visitor when you post.

Kind Regards,
