    Alleged Illegal Immigrants....

This was a small piece of good news!!

Alleged Illegal Immigrants Arrested Near Buckley

(CBS4) AURORA, Colo. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents arrested 127 suspected illegal immigrants Wednesday morning at a construction site next to Buckley Air Force Base in Aurora. Some suggested the raid was possibly the largest immigration bust in state history.

About 70 agents, some who came from as far away as California, converged on the work site at about 5:30 a.m., according to a contractor.

The men arrested were loaded onto three buses. ICE officials said the workers were then taken to a processing center for possible deportation.

The alleged illegal immigrants were working on building military housing for the base.

Contractors were reportedly told they could face fines if it was determined they hired undocumented workers.

Even better, they can lose their 74 million plus contract. The name of the Company that holds the contract is Buckley Housing LLC, a sub of Hunt Housing.

    NEWS RELEASES
Buckley Announces Intent To Award Contract For Base Housing

    January 01, 2004

    --
BUCKLEY AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. -- The Buckley Air Force Base Family Housing privatization project gets underway today with the announcement of the awarding of a $74.7 million contract to Investment Builders, Incorporation (IBI) and Hunt Building Corporation to build and maintain 351 housing units at the base. IBI-Hunt will operate under the title Buckley Family Housing, LLC and will be the property manager for the development.

Buckley Family Housing will plan, design, develop, renovate, demolish, construct, own, operate, maintain and manage a rental housing development for the Air Force over the next 50 years at the base. Housing will be built on 70 acres of land the Air Force will lease to Buckley Family Housing on the western side of the base. Construction of the units will begin in July and should be completed in approximately 19 months.

Construction includes: 51 four-bedroom units and 300 three-bedroom units. In addition to the housing, the developer will build jogging and bike paths, a pool, a community center, playgrounds, tennis and basketball courts.

“This is a great opportunity to provide military families access to safe, quality, affordable and well-maintained housing in a community where our people will choose to live,” stated Col. Allen Kirkman, Jr., 460th Air Base Wing commander. Currently Buckley Air Force Base does not have any on-base family housing.

    Here is the plan
    Buckley AFB Housing Privatization
The Housing Privatization project for Buckley AFB was awarded on August 12, 2004 to Hunt Building Corporation. Hunt will enhance, plan, design and construct 351 homes consisting of single- family and town homes with the latest modern conveniences and a full range of amenities. They will own, operate and maintain the rental housing development and associated utility infrastructure systems for 50 years.
Homes in the neighborhood will be available to airmen who rank from Airman 1st Class to Lieutenant Colonel. A specific number of homes will be designated for each grade.
To ensure affordability, rents will be based on the military members Basic Allowance for Housing (BAH). The amount of rent will be deducted directly from the members pay by allotment and paid directly to Buckley Family Housing each month.

    GOAL
To provide Buckley AFB military families access to safe, quality, affordable, well-maintained housing in a community where they will choose to live.

    BACKGROUND
The shortage of quality affordable housing available to military service members and their families in local communities has reached a point where quality of life and, hence, retention and readiness are at risk. Consequently, the Pentagon proposed, and Congress enacted, the Military Housing Privatization Initiative (MHPI) in the 1996 National Defense Authorization Act. This law allows the military services to address their housing needs by using privately financed and built housing constructed to market standards. The MHPI’s goal is to drastically reduce the time required to provide military members with quality, affordable housing and replace the Department of Defense’s (DOD) aging inventory of housing units.
