The American Population fix is in.

The Population Fix Is In http://www.capsweb.org
    Long-time CAPS member Ed Hartman,
a native Californian, has just released The
    Population Fix: Breaking America’s
    Addiction to Population Growth, which
includes a foreward by CAPS President,
Diana Hull. This is an outstanding book and
    we recommend it highly.
    Hartman writes that U.S. population
    growth—the highest of any developed
    nation—is neither desirable nor inevitable.
    State
    Federal
    Former Colorado Governor and CAPS
Advisory Board member, Dick Lamm says,
“The Population Fix carefully draws out the
human story behind our damaging immigration,
tax and legal policies and structures
and begs the questions: ‘Why have we
ignored this for the past two decades?’ and
    ‘What can we do now?’”
    Hartman says, “Addictions can be
broken” and encourages people to work
towards breaking what he calls “America’s
    addiction to population growth.”
“jobless recovery,” others point out that the
industry is actually engaging in “job destruction”
    by exporting jobs, importing workers
and falsely inflating the number of jobs
    created.
“More than 410,000 H-1B workers have
entered the United States since 2003,” said
Rob Sanchez, publisher of the Job
Destruction Newsletter and a CAPS Senior
Writing Fellow. “Since about 50 percent of H-
1B visa holders are IT workers, it’s safe to
say that during the years from 2003 to 2006
at least 205,000 H-1Bs entered the tech
    industry.”
Since only 76,300 new IT jobs were
created during that period, where did the
other 128,700 H-1B workers go? “The logical
conclusion is that the small number of jobs
created were gobbled up by H-1Bs, while at
the same time at least 128,700 American IT
    workers were replaced,” explained Sanchez.
    Dick Schneider, CAPS Board member
and environmental lecturer says, "So many
times we hear the argument that population
growth is inevitable and there is nothing we
can do about it except treat the symptoms.
The Population Fix's analogy to addiction–a
    curable condition–is an antidote
    to this fatalism."
