America to Blame for Illegal Aliens Turning to Crime, Latino Advocate Says

Americans are to blame for some illegal immigrants becoming serial crooks because "they're picking up those bad habits of cheating, of drinking and drugs," according to an official of a prominent Latino advocacy organization.

Jesse Diaz of the League of United Latin American Citizens made the claim on Monday during an interview on Dallas talk radio station KRLD, and then repeated them on Tuesday to WFAA-TV.

Diaz was discussing a federal study of 100 illegal immigrants with arrest records. The study found they had each been arrested and released six times on average.

When questioned about how living in America is responsible for them becoming serial lawbreakers, Diaz stood by his remarks, arguing that conservative Catholic values learned in Mexico start to break down once immigrants are in the U.S.

Diaz pointed to an increase in teen pregnancies and broken homes in the immigrant community and also blasted the wearing of baggy pants.

Diaz's remarks caused shock in the Dallas area, immediately lighting up KRLD phone lines.

"My mouth just flew open," said one listener upon hearing the comment.

KRLD DJ Jay McFarland questioned the accuracy of Diaz's claim.

"If you have to break the laws to get here initially, what respect are you going to have for our laws," he said.

Diaz claimed the study of 100 illegal aliens with criminal records was flawed, which prompted him to speak out.

"It teaches them to hate immigrants, and the majority of these immigrants are good people," Diaz said.

The U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency also critiqued the study, calling it neither statistically significant nor objective. ICE however also pointed out that more than 355,000 criminal aliens have been deported since 2003.

Well, the beginning of their "serial" life of crime began when THEY made the decision to step illegally across the border. And it continued when THEY used forged documents to gain employment. How did Americans MAKE them do these things?

I don't suppose choosing to abandon their families, spouses, and children in Mexico or home country could have anything to do with "cheating" and hiring prostitutes, or drinking and partying due to boredom because families are not around? And the drinking and DUI thing......this is a big no-no in this country, so how are Americans to blame here?

Good grief. This is just utter nonsense.

Crime seems to be rampant in Mexico and South America. I don't think we needed to teach them how to break the law. They brought VIOLENT CRIME with them into this when they broke in illegally.

Having the highest teen pregnancy rate is something they brought with them too. Don't they get married as young as 13 in Mexico? What about 99 percent of rapes going unprosecuted in Mexico? The violent drug gangs being imported here, stealing social services, bankrupting hospitals, on an on...

No, I think Mr. Diaz is in definate denial!!

What about self-respect huh, how about self-responsibility, accountablity for your own actions? I would not be at all surprised if these words were not removed from Websters Dictonary, because they were no longer politically correct!

    Who's influencing who?

    Crime in Mexico
    From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Crime is among the most urgent concerns facing Mexico, as is the case for many other Latin American countries. Mexican drug trafficking rings play a major role in the flow of cocaine, heroin, and marijuana transiting between Latin America and the United States. Drug trafficking has led to corruption, which has had a deleterious effect on Mexico's democracy. Drug trafficking and organized crime have also been a major source of violent crime in Mexico.

Mexico has experienced increasingly high crime rates, especially in major urban centers. The country's great economic polarization has stimulated criminal activity in the lower socioeconomic strata, which includes the majority of the country's population. Crime continues at high levels, and is repeatedly marked by violence, especially in Mexico City, Tijuana, Ciudad Juárez, Nuevo Laredo, and the state of Sinaloa. Other metropolitan areas have lower, yet still serious, levels of crime. Low apprehension and conviction rates contribute to the high crime rate.

The high incidence of crime in Mexico has also poured across the border and influenced crime in the United States, aggravating problems including drugs, illegal immigration, and gangs. To combat this increasing problem, cross-border cooperation has increased between law enforcement agencies in the United States and Mexico in recent years.

This just happens to be from Wikipedia, but a search will provide all the evidence necessary to dispute the claim that the United States is influencing Mexican nationals to participate in crime.

    .

The study was with "100 convicted illegals with atleast 6 repeated convictions". did he expect one stitch of truth?

Did anyone hear any reputible source that this information came from? Or any "logical Proof"?

One proof I found is how "bias" the media is or this would have never been published.

OH! that`s right, we`re racists, I almost forgot.

It's true, many mexicans practice the catholic religion in Mexico and they are truly devoted. But the majority are just people that go to a catholic church on special occassions only. These are not people that practice the Catholic religion daily and attend church at least once a week. The lifestyle they live in Mexico is much like the lifestyle they come and live here. If they are drunks they continue to be drunks. It is even worse here because now the have found an illegal employer that is paying them to do a job and they have money to spend on alcohol.
The small church that I attend had appx.50 people (last year) mainly from Mexico and other Latin American countries which came to ask if they could do their community hours helping the church.. The majority of them illegals! Lawbreakers that left their so called "Religious values" at the border when they came in illegally. If they are so religious they would keep practicing their faith and find a church to attend here regularly and stay out of trouble. The girls would keep their legs closed and stop having multiple anchor babies. The families would be closer and would go to church together and they would not have to worry about the kids joining gangs. They would all dress normally and not have the underwear showing
when they bend over and wear those baggy pants. You don't just leave your beliefs at the border if you are a true believer!
These are not true Catholics or people of faith. They are what they are and will continue to be this way because they are criminals. Religion teaches you to obey the laws of the land and live in peace with your neighbor.
