Still Sick and Tired of Arizona

As some of you know, my husband is a hispanic american whose family has been here for four generations and he does not speak spanish. Some of the hispanics here have made comments about how he is "white-washed" and has "lost his ethnicity." Wow, I didn't know that only "white" americans conformed to society. The spanish speaking kids at my daughter's school are mean to her at times because she has a hispanic name and looks hispanic, but does not speak spanish. I have never seen the likes of this mentality, in my home state of Michigan most hispanic americans from the 2nd generation on down do not speak spanish because it is just seen as comforming to society.

I have never lived in such a backwards society where there are people who try to make us feel guilty for being american and living by society's standards. It is bad enough that they make white racial comments towards me for being white, but they have an even worse attitude toward my family just because they are hispanic americans who solely speak the national language which is English.

Last I knew, a national language is what unites society and if you want to be understood you must conform to those standards. If that were not the case, I would be sitting here typing in the cherokee or saxon language right now. Most african americans would be speaking swahili or some african language and even the Mexicans would be speaking something else, they would be speaking mayan or aztec.

Our public schools and media are much to blame for the problem you speak of as we no longer teach to be proud of America no matter where your from, this in the future will divide us to the point of war, truly a shame.. I once worked with a highly educated black man who spoke clear and precise English when his friends would drop by he changed into street language I ask him why and he said he must to be accepted, again what a shame.

I wouldn't doubt that this will cause big problems, a nation must have an agreed upon language, it is just how it is. Even Mexico has conformed and has an agreed upon language which is Spanish. And it is Spanish because the conquistadors came and they had to conform.

Thank the overwhelming liberal progressives, LEGAL Hispanic teachers, principals, and administrators who bow to and give platforms and speeches in attempts to force school children to get rid of their American flags on bicycles, wearing American patriotic tee shirts and sweat shirts to school, while they turn a blind eye to the actually hanging of the Mexican flag in our schools.

Actually many inner-city black students have done the exact same thing to kids doing well in school. I remember the term: "Keeping it Real" was a sort of excuse to explain why they rejected a good education and those who didn't were called Oreos.

This is just a personal observation of mine here.

I have worked with many people from India who speak perfect English. They have told me that the language of India is English. That is the only way they can communicate because there are too many dialects.

Once again, Ratbstard, I was thinking the same thing you said. I frequently go into AZ public schools because of my job and I'm always hearing Spanish being spoken in the offices. I think the school supers need to make a rule that the offices are English only. Usually it is the parent that speaks only Spanish. I think it would be better for everyone if they all spoke English despite the law that lets all their kids attend school for free. At least if they only spoke to them in English, things wouldn't be so easy for them.

I never could have gotten a job at a school because they demand the personnel be bilingual.

    oreo, red apple, . . . .

My Mexican family says that Mexicans are the most prejudice people on the planet. Some of my Mexican family has had opportunity to serve all over the world in the military. They still say Mexicans are the most prejudice people of all.

What gets me is the fact that they can sit there and call non-spanish speaking hispanic americans such as my husband "white washed," but they do not think about the fact that it was WHITE EUROPEANS who brought the spanish language to latin america to begin with. So I guess they are all therefore "white conquistador washed"!!!!
